Banana, vanilla and caramel run right through this Jamaica/St. Lucia blend, with the Worthy Park side doing most of the talking and a cacao-and-toffee note underneath. Several tasters land on "chocolate banana," and almost everyone flags how sweet it is — pleasantly so for some, a touch much for others. At 55% the alcohol sits reasonably well. A likeable, not hugely complex 8-year blend.

A rum tasted at the GRF in 2024, S.B.S. Masterclass. A nose of tropical fruit with caramel and young wood. The palate is very (too?) sweet, but the fruit is there too. The finish is short and sweet. A cross between a WP (Worthy Park) and a SLD (Santa Lucia), rather weak in flavor and sweet but interesting nonetheless.

Unfortunately I missed it at the GRF because S.B.S didn't have enough bottles, so I got myself a sample. Interesting blend that doesn't really pick me up personally, nice to have tried.

In the nose I‘d say we are looking at Worthy Park, which is dominating the profile. There are some additional chocolate and caramel notes which might come from the Chairman’s component. However for me those are complementing rather than taking center stage. On the palate, both components of the blend act more as equals. I get a lot of cacoa and chocolate notes as well as toffee and some sweetness. There are still some WP fruits and spices. Alcohol isn’t perfectly integrated in the mix but reasonably for the ABV level. All in all I quite like it. Not the most complex blend but it gives a nice feel of „chocolate banana“ throughout the tasting.

#5195 02.04.2025 Running through some samples at home. Nose Light wood, faint roasted, light cinnamon, light pineapple, faint floral, berries, spice. Palate Round, balanced, fruits, light wood, faint smoke, spice, light tannins, raisin, light cherry, faint floral. Finish Medium to long, light dry, fruits, wood, light tannins, cinnamon, dried fruit. Empty glass Vanilla, faint chocolate, light earthy, light berries. Needs to rest for a while to really open up properly or you add a few drops of water.

Fair evaluation. Tasted as part of the S.B.S. tasting. Exciting blend. The nose is dominated by fruity notes, especially banana, plus vanilla and caramel. A pleasant sweetness on the palate. I liked it very much.

A good easy sipper. Sweet with candied fruits and caramel. Jamaica low ester is already noticeable here, I wouldn't have guessed St. Lucia as a blend partner. The alcohol is well integrated.

On the nose: First notes are Jamaican esters and St.Lucian rum notes battling with each other but once the rum sits in the glass the Jamaican notes disappear completely and i get the typical Chairman’s Reserve rum notes. Not bad at all, but was hoping for something else. Taste: Ok, this is clearly more Chairman’s Reserve rum. Caramel, vanilla, sweet, round and balanced. Those typical strange medicinal notes that you get from some of Chairman’s Reserve rums are in the background. Finish:Banana notes, sweet caramel and creamy mouthfeel at first. Dry and woody notes in the end. The blend has to be heavily leaning towards ST.Lucia. This rum is quite sweet, but its solid rum and manages to offer just little bit more than some of the Chairman’s Reserve coreline releases.

Clearly noticeable Worthy Park aroma. I don't recognize Chairman there, but the blend smells really interesting. In taste, WP stands out mainly, but I would say St. Lucie added extra technical notes. Finish banana with a lot of vanilla creamy ice cream.
