One taster called the nose "hard to read" — old wood first, then dried figs, raisin, chocolate and a hint of dried apricot, with a dark, roasted, faintly herbal palate. This is a 14-year Savanna traditionnel at full 65%, and the alcohol is remarkably well tucked in for the strength. A drop of water opens it up. Rich and woody rather than fruity or funky.

The nose first reveals old wood. You can tell the rum has some years of cask aging. Pretty tannins that reveal delicate vanilla and fruity notes. I'd say apricot. The palate is intense. The 65° is a bit strong for my palate. The wood has done its job and brings strong astringency. You find the Reunion paste with a clever mix of woody, chocolatey, and fruity notes. Needs to be retested over time because this rum has a lot to say. A drop of water gives it more indulgence by softening the alcohol burn. New tasting: oxidation brings roundness to this rum and tames it without harming it. Intense. Complex. Woody. Spicy. It's a very nice selection once again.

EDIT: oxidation brings a beautiful noble wood and less roughness. Tasting in several stages. A rather unbalanced rum in my opinion. It smells of old wood, fruit brandy, but also a bit of alcohol, let's not lie. Figs, dried fruits, dried herbs, sugar, chocolate, we go through all tastes and emotions. Nice but probably deserved a little reduction. Edit: beautiful cooking spices, yellow fruits, a big wet wood.

A very successful bottling from Savanna, where various dried fruits harmonize wonderfully with dark roasted aromas, chocolate, vanilla and burnt sugar. The alcohol is perfectly integrated.

#7221 26.08.2026 Got a handful of Swell samples today so why not give them a run for their money. Thanks for the samples Peter! Watching the TV Series "Swamp Murders". A very nice bottling especially when looking at the price tag at release. Medium intense profile with roasted wood, spice, varnish, herbs, nutts, fruits, natural sweetness and some chocolate.

Savanna cask 699 from 2022. Very pleasant molasses rum from Savanna. The alcohol is really perfectly integrated here. Hasn't been rated here yet, but it's a great recommendation if you get the chance.

Delicious old Savanna with intense aromas of chocolate, dried fig and raisin, a bit of thyme and oak wood. Alcohol is well integrated and the finish medium-long and very round. The high age suits it very well! Still would have wished for a bit more Savanna style, blind I would have guessed it more as Isautier.

A Traditionnel from Savanna with a very harmonious, intense profile. Spices, wood and chocolate, even the alcohol shows its muscles. The aromas are all very present and create a really pleasant, intense profile that is absolutely convincing. A really good choice of barrel.

A nose hard to read, slight menthol, spices, chocolate, and wood. Few fruits except dried apricots. The palate follows the nose, with a very dark, very roasted side and something herbal. Still quite hard to read but enjoyable, it's good! Alcohol well integrated, very nice length.

Bottlings for the Swell group, Spirit, fan on Facebook. Big fan of Savanna rums, I really enjoyed this 20cl format. The time spent in the barrel is felt on the nose and palate, the dark color also testifies to this. Alcohol nicely integrated despite the high proof. Spicy, chocolatey, woody are the markers to take away, but in my opinion it lacks a bit of indulgence.
