Allright, lets do a tipsy GRF 2025 review On the nose: At first, fermented/ ester/nail polish notes dominate the nose profile. After a while you get a mild sour apple notes that are typical to savanna rhums. Typical Savanna profile but leaning more toward nail polish that usual( on those rhums that i have tasted). Little bit of citrus notes in there. Taste: Somewhat of a complex, intense fermented fruit profile dominates. Finish: More clearer fruity profile. Dry and medium finish. Rainer quik review this time. This rum need some time to open up. Not really my kind of taste profile that i would pay that large amount of money

Hmmm, this is very tasty! A full fruit basket with a pleasant sweetness, woodiness and bitterness. Sweet, creamy and pleasant on the palate. Alcohol perfectly integrated. Surprisingly less astringent for a Grand Arome, which may be due to its advanced age. Instead, more wood and sweet ripe/overripe fruit come to the fore.

Tasted at the Kirsch Cruise 2024 in Berlin. Nice drop that you were allowed to taste, in my opinion very solid, but unfortunately not the one to fly over. In my opinion, there are far better bottlings out there

A rum like a concentrate. Thickened fruit compote. Spectacular nose, the tropical maturation oozes from every pore. The seductive impression of the nose cannot quite be maintained on the palate; the acidic notes that appear here are a little too present for me. A powerful, sophisticated rum, not for every day. (Note: bottle price not taken into account in the rating)

9:On the nose, esters, nail polish, fermented, overripe tropical and red fruits, pungent, slightly rotten, waxy, roasted oak with chocolate, nuts, burnt sugar, smoky, molasses with black tea, hay, minty, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration dried, citrus fruits arise, cherry, besides strawberry, comes out, hints of maracuja, mango, marmelade like feeling, molasses is briny with olive, thick, candied, hints of cedar wood might be recognized, allspice, pastry and leather. 8,7:On the palate, the attack is sour, intense, pungent with fermented, overripe, rotten tropical and red fruits, briny molasses, medicinal with esters, waxy, roasted wood notes like nuts, caramel, leather, pastry, spicy with allspice, hints of vanilla, sweet.When the rum is well rested, berries, maracuja, mango, papaya join, the rum becomes dry, tannic, molasses minty, grassy with hay and dark with black tea, very complex. 8,8:The finish is long, dry&tannic, round, with fermented, rotten fruits, grassy, flowery molasses, hints of eucalyptus, tea, honeycomb and roasted, slightly charred wood notes like burnt sugar, chocolate, nuts, smoky, spicy. Whisky Live Paris 2024 (fair evaluation, only overall rating and personal purchase recommendation): Nice nose, moist and spicy. On the palate nice maturity due to the relatively long aging. Just the right amount of wood. Would very much like a bottle of it. Addendum: had the chance again to taste a sample and the first impression was confirmed, a great Savanna.

Much better IMHO than the 2000 19y rare cask savanna. Much more fruit and grand aroma style! Passion fruit, strawberry, papaya and mango in combination with black tea and eucalyptus, as well as cinnamon, vanilla and olive brine. Surprisingly, the 17y in the barrel are more in the background here. Overall, really very balanced and delicious!

Even the nose is tempting with a variety of aromas. On the palate then tea, spices, Tic Tac wintergreen, some strawberry and a kind of wood varnish or wood stain. A very nice, intense Savanna. The alcohol is well integrated and at the same time it does not seem too thin. Very tasty, though quite expensive Savanna.

What a great distillery Savanna is. I had the joy to participate in the RX Savanna tasting and the variety of rum styles they offer is amazing. This one is on the light ester side with a lot of dried tropical fruits, acid, phenol on the nose. A bit of a fruit bomb. On the palate the cask pushes its way through. Adstringent, dry, sour, fruity with surprisingly the influence of the cask lasting longest on the finish.

Had it several times in the glass and always an experience. On the nose, the old Grand Arôme practically screams its identity. Very concentrated, elixir-like. The long time in the cask is clearly noticeable, wood-juice with glue and strawberry gummy bears. On the palate also very concentrated, as if it had been reduced. Here comes a portion of acidity, like lime peel. Still, the interplay with Haribo Primavera and white gummy bears remains. Wood is definitely there too, the 17 years of tropical aging do not pass without a trace... as if the cask had been squeezed out. Concentrated, intense, multifaceted. Elixir de Réunion. Finish: Lasts long. The acidity recedes and strawberries remain, a hint of glue and oak sap.

Very tasty Grand Arome. Insanely intense on the nose with superbly integrated alcohol. Old leather sofa and fruit platter. The high ester notes typical of savanna come through on the palate. Lots of fruit, olive brine, fermented with a clear tropical ageing period. Great cinema.

Smell: Smells very fruity with tropical fruits (passion fruit, papaya, mango). Also aromas of toffee and cognac, fine wood and furniture polish. Very tasty. Taste: Round in the mouth, then becomes spicy. Full-bodied. Otherwise primarily spicy, woody and roasted in taste. The long aging in the cognac cask cannot be denied. Fruity (strawberry syrup), although not as present as in the smell. Hardly bitter at all. The alcohol is well integrated. Finish: Long and woody and spicy. Still fruity in the background. Dry in the aftertaste.

Rums from the Savanna distillery are some of my favorites. I recommend everyone try especially the ester-rich pieces like Grand Arome or HERR. You haven't felt so much fruit in just a few drops of liquid for a long time.
