Malteco 10 Years - Añejo Suave
One member calls it an "easy drinking rum" with a smoky, roasted nose, and that's the gist: soft vanilla and caramel, a little roasted Panama character, and a light, sweet body. Several tasters reach for it as a first rum or a Cuba Libre pour. A few wish it had more punch, and one flagged a lingering aftertaste that ice couldn't shake.

How does Malteco 10 Years - Añejo Suave taste?
Aggregated from 124 community reviews.
Soft, sweet vanilla-caramel starter rum Most see it as a gentle, sweet entry rum with vanilla and caramel and a roasted edge. The common gripe: a bit too light and simple, and some catch a stubborn aftertaste.

Drunk naturally neat...discreet on the nose with slight sweetness, also pleasant sweetness on the palate with a pleasant spiciness that does not seem alcoholic. Good spice with stronger chocolate facets, rather less fruity, slightly oily. The 15-year-old Malteco is still a tad better, but for the price top. Definitely a buy recommendation as well as for beginners as well as advanced!!! Super price / performance.

I really like Panama Rum and its typical roasted flavour. It is very present in this Rum, which is also rather sweet. Those flavors are actually even much stronger here than in the 15 yo, which is more fruity and smooth though. Value for money is amazing, also great for cocktails.

Soft, smooth and sweet rum with fruit and caramel, but also with a distinct biting alcohol note on the nose. Pleasing profile, you notice the young age but. Given the price but pretty good!

A very easy-to-get rum. Decent price to quality ratio, and a very good rum for entry into the rum-world. I found it to have a vanilla sweetness in the nose, and notes of spices, fruits with hints of banana and vanilla. Updated with picture from the same tasting

Still a great experience for the price tag of 22€. If you are into a Spanish rum style, it is a great a choice. I like the overall profile and decent palate. Sweet but user friendly, cannot complaint in this price range.

Fresh with strong vanilla smell and little afterburn. Who loves vanilla and lighter rums, will really enjoy this one. Ideal also as a mixer into Cuba Libre. And, it's cheap...

Good quality for the low price. Nice roasted taste with some caramel.

Lovely sipping rum that will not offend anyone. Retaste: It is not that bad actually if we consider this is the base line of malteco rums. I am raising up my review. Notes of chocolate, vanilla and nougat are dominating.

Review by Scotty1960
Karamell Pflaumen In der Nase holzig Kurzer Abgang etwas würzig wenig süße Der 15er ist deutlich komplexer

Very mild, on the sweeter side. Emjoyable yet not really complex. Not expensive for a good sip if you don't need anything too special.

Easy drinking rum, a bit smoky/roasted nose, easy a bit sweet taste.

Sweet, fruity, caramel

It's like marriage. The bottle is nice, the smell is good, the sip is also delicious, but at the end there is a bad aftertaste that doesn't want to go away. Even if I dilute it with ice, it still remains.

Read full review →Already clearly resembles its older brother, the 15y. A pleasant rum with a strong vanilla and caramel note. Despite being sweetened, the sweetness is not extremely noticeable. I like that. The flavours on the tongue are airy and light. A little more intensity would be nice. All in all, however, a very good PLV. However, I would prefer the 15y to the 10y, for a few euros more you get more intense aromas and flavours - especially in the mouth the 10y was a bit too light for me.
