Feller Rumreich Bourbon Cask 2022
Anyone curious what a German craft distillery does with high-ester rum should meet this one. Two years old, molasses-based, bottled at a wild 70.8% — yet reviewers keep noting how well the alcohol sits. Roasted nuts, malt, spicy vanilla and a bitter-orange twist run through it, with a fresh Calvados-like fruitiness on the nose. Craft through and through.

How does Feller Rumreich Bourbon Cask 2022 taste?
From community reviews · summarized with AI
Nutty, malty high-ester rum, mild for 70.8% The recurring verdict: remarkably mild and well-integrated for its strength, packed with nutty-malty character. One taster found the cardamom-heavy spice a touch too much.

8,2:On the nose, the first impression we get is a bit different as usually with almost no fruit attack, but fresh, as we notice roasted wood notes as nuts, spicy vanilla, malt, cereal. On aeration, confectionery notes arise, caramel, chocolate, perhaps notes of calvados and becomes a bit waxy, herbaceous, after real rest, we find pine, citrus fruits, cucumber, esters. 8,3:On the palate, the attack is fruity, a bit alcoholic, as we taste notes like juice wodka with esters, so an orange is a bit bitter. The wood is roasted, smoky, sweet with honeyed nuts, later crunchy bread, spicy vanilla, malt, cereal here again with molasses and an olive, brine. When well rested yellow and dried fruits arise, strong raspberries. 8,1:The finish is medium long, dry and waxy, with some esters, a bit smoky with roasted wood notes, fruity with bitter orange, some olive is obvious. Very good alcohol integration.. Edit:30.8.25, mixes great with Sprite

For me a positive discovery at GRF24. This bottling is really successful. On the nose I perceive malt, nuts, coffee and light wood. On the palate it has a strong presence, but the 70.2% alc. is perfectly integrated. The mix of sweetness, wood, malt, fruit, vanilla and esters is really fun. In the finish, besides the mentioned aromas, there is also a hint of beeswax. This is one of the first South American rums that I like 100%.

#5312 15.05.2025 Enjoying some samples after coming back from the airport in Hamburg. Put my son on his flight to China for a long holiday with his mom. Listening to some Psy Trance 2025. Nose Fresh, fruity, light wood, faint bourbon, light caramel, faint chocolate, light nutts, light orange. Palate Oily, light wood, fruits, light cherry, faint orange, light nutts, light pear, spice. Finish Medium to long, oily, round, light wood, light berries, light nutts, light honey, faint olive. Empty glass Olive, light citrus, nutts, light chocolate. German Rum Fest 2024 sample. Very good rum when looking at the price tag.

The 2-year fair bottling for the 13th GRF has a lot of power and is very mild for such a young rum with this high alcohol content. Nutty, woody, malty, fruity and on the nose also a slight alcoholic note that I would classify towards Calvados. The medium-long aftertaste settles on the tongue with light fruit, nut and vanilla.

Nice nutty nose, very pleasantly balanced and that at over 70% which is very well integrated here. Exciting on the palate. Properly malty, again lots of nuts and a nice complexity. Especially here I like this nutty note typical for the rum. Recommendation and I am curious what else will come from the Feller house.

Awesome stuff! I've had this rum in the glass before and still remember it very positively, now I'm catching up on the rating. On the nose with some time, something like candied ginger, crazy! On the palate, the rum strongly reminds me of the WP from RA (RX11745), and again I can't say what this distinctive herbal (delicious!!!) note reminds me of, it's driving me crazy! For me, despite the 70.8%, not too strong, an extraordinary rum to discover.

Tasted at Rum Fest '24, but in the evening in the hotel lobby with Werner, and Werner has a lot to tell about his rums. Listening and learning and asking smart questions 😅 This one is a high ester bottled at a crazy 70.8%. Fermented for 24 days with Cachaca yeast and milk bacteria. Finally aged 2 years in cask. And now tasted on a Norway vacation.... Nose: very complex once the alcohol has somewhat evaporated. Fruity and spicy with a mix of quince, pear, mirabelle plum and kumquat as well as clove and nutmeg. Added to that is an intense sweetness of fruit bread, candied orange peel. Floral at the back, towards geranium. Intense and good. 8.6 Palate: yes, it has the proof. Very spicy with nutmeg, cardamom, clove with some caraway. Astringent and slightly bitter. Behind that comes the fruit, quince with bergamot and bitter orange. Almost a bit medicinal. But it also has a slight grain note and is a bit malty. There's a lot in there, craftsmanship and aroma. For me, a bit too much cardamom to be a pleasure. 8.2

Tried at the GRF, packed and now opened. I can only congratulate myself for buying it. What an extraordinary and delicious drop.😋 My wife smells Calvados, no idea, never drank it, definitely fruity fresh, plus fine honey sweetness, light wood with spice. All very fine and noble, no sting from the high alcohol content. This one nicely pulled sweetness and bourbon flavor from the wood. For two years, it's amazing. Nutty, malty, spicy fills the mouth, plus bitter orange and everything flows smoothly into the finish. For me, a really awesome stuff, I'm thrilled.👍🏻🥰
