Good ten cane. Alcohol well integrated. I would have liked a little more complexity.
Review by LukaŽiga
8,8:On the nose, the first impression we get is surprisingly dark with roasted wood like nuts, leather, caramel, as with dark molasses notes like licorice, black tea, tobacco. The fruits are dried with dates, prunes, raisins, red and green with an apple, pear. On aeration, the molasses is candied, herbaceous, as there is also some hay, red bellpeppers.Sherry finish is even more obvious now. Some new fruit notes arise like dried figs, yellow and tropical.Coffee and menthol round up notes nicely. 8,8:On the palate, the attack is dark, syrupy with black tea, vegetal molasses and charred wood notes like caramel, nuts, leather, it is a bit dirty and with menthol, as the fruits are dried, thick with sherry seasoning like apricots, raisins, prunes, cherry. After resting the rum, the molasses is floral and earthy with tobacco, stronger industrial notes are out with rubber and tar, then chocolate, mocha and Maggi from charred notes. The fruits are also yellow and balance thick and dark molasses. 8,7:The finish is long, dry with spicy, roasted wood notes, delicious cherry, dried, red and yellow fruits, as the molasses is dark, vegetal, earthy with tobacco, black tea.Industrial notes like rubber, petrol, tar bring in a little bit of bitterness... Edit:1.6.25, 😋

A very good Ten Cane, which is on the dark spicy side, but with a strong contrast to the classic cherry and dried fruit flavors. This results in a very successful interplay which I find very exciting

Not very meaningful in my assessment, as this is only the second Ten Cane I've tried. The first was as part of a RumX advent calendar - and it was awful. After that, I never tried another one until this one from the set here. And this one is much better. Dark, roasty and full-bodied. I really like it. The alcohol is well integrated and I like the style - not much going on, but I like what's there.

3x Ten Cane 2008 by RumClub, Romdeluxe and Distilia. While Distilia and RD are quite similar, the RC is noticably more vibrant. The first two provide wood, some roasted notes, apples (fresh and backed), Christmas spices and some leathery notes. The RC in contrast adds fresh mint and yellow fruits to the mix, which remind me rather of TDLs rather than what I had as Ten Cane so far. Crown goes to the RC in the line-up. On the palate, again, RdL and Distilia are rather close. Distilia delivers even stronger on the woody and leathery notes with some cacao/dar chocolate as a kicker. RDL comes with similar notes, but more fruits and openness. Both nice. While I prefer the darker profile of the Distilia. For the RC, I get more TDL vibes on the palate as well. Are we absolutely sure this is a TC and not TDL? 😅 I get mint and a different set of fruits (more peach than cherries) and miss the „sugar cane feel“ which the other two deliver. Interestingly different indeed. On the palate I also prefer the RC in the line-up.

Tasting Distilia Artist (Yu Chuan).

Oh yes, I think this is probably the best TenCane I've had in a glass. Some bottlings weren't even that good, but this one really surprised me in a positive way. The full EmEukal cough syrup and cherry bomb. I actually quite like it at the moment.

Very aromatic and powerful with notes of caramelized sugar, dark fruit and slightly medicinal hints. The spice remains present for a long time, accompanied by tart herbs and a slight bitterness on the finish. Despite its intensity, the rum remains structured and well-balanced, with a fine interplay between sweetness and spice. A representative of the Ten Cane line with a strong character.

Pleasant fresh smell of slightly roasted fruit aromas. Light mint, tobacco and chocolate. After a while it becomes quite pleasant and minimally dry on the finish. The slightly rough finish bothers me a little.

The complete opposite of the LP tasted earlier! Strong, spicy, intense, full-bodied. The nose has red fruits, something nutty, plus spicy wood and slightly roasted aromas. On the palate, cherries merge with wood, leather and nuts, along with herbs and black tea, making the whole thing beautifully powerful. The 61% are excellently integrated! The finish is spicy and leathery, with strong black tea again. An outstanding rum.

An unmistakable aroma of dried fruit, vanilla and barrel. Gradually the fruit component opens up more and becomes more interesting. Flavour-wise in a similar vein. Lots of fruit, well integrated alcohol. The finish is warm with red fruit. Pretty good, but nothing too memorable.

"The ten cane runs are usually a bit odd and this is no exception. This has some complexities but really lacking any edge or interesting features. I really wish this would have spent more time in the cask"
