Wow! The little New Grove at €50 in TDL 2000 mode. I love it! It lacks a bit of length and intensity but the fruits are there, superb menthol, spices, wood. It's really a must-have and I'm sure I'll get another once the bottle is empty. Cheap and ultra effective!

A rum tasted at Rhum Fest in 2024. A nose of citrus peel, unripe fruit and bitterness. A slightly monolithic palate of citrus fruits. The finish develops a slight acidity. An interesting rum, but not exciting either.

It starts fruity and pleasantly spicy with peach and tropical fruits, but feels a bit thin and not very complex on the palate. The slight citrus acidity brings freshness but does not replace depth. Solid entry-level rum with good value for money, neat but rather uncomplicated than exciting.

Super fruity & spicy like awesome peach iced tea! With more alcohol it could release even more aromas, but due to dilution it unfortunately feels a bit thin, yet still a true flavor bomb and a nice entry-level Mauritius rum! Very tasty and great value for money.

A 10-year-old at such a low price with such character, it can make a great pleasure purchase for yourself or as a gift! I'm enjoying exploring the New Grove brand more and more. I even find some similarities with certain TDLs like the menthol freshness, blackcurrant/peach fruitiness, burnt sugar. Floral finish (violet) reminiscent of some Savanna tradition. A nice intensity overall.

👃 Lots of basket fruits both tropical (mango, papaya, passion fruit) and orchard fruits (peach, apricot). Beautiful island spices, fresh vanilla, and garden mint leaf. A bit of complexity on a nice soft caramel with raisins in the background. A nose above all fruity, light and fresh. 😋 The same fruits still present, even a bit of bitter cherries at times. Gradually the fresh and ripe fruits evolve into a caramel of fruit sugar, like a compote left too long in the pan turning towards caramelization. The spices are not left behind (vanilla, pink pepper). ⛳ Medium to short length, it gives way to slightly more acidic fruits, on citrus. Light spices and a touch of mint.

Tasted again with good friends after a long time. Typical New Grove profile which I really like, though some find it annoying. Not particularly demanding to drink, a good everyday rum.

A rum clearly dominated by fresh, spicy notes and a nice roundness, from nose to finish. The nose is flattering, round, and fresh. On the palate, the spicy woodiness is very fine. The finish, average, leaves an impression of freshness.

A very fresh and fruity rum, really pleasant, which reconciles me with New Grove, which I often found too bland. Despite a light alcohol level, the nose is as fragrant as the palate, all in exotic and yellow fruits (passion fruit, peach, yellow plum). What struck me in the first nose were these very original curry aromas. These spices are more discreet on the palate in favor of the fruitiness. The wood brings soft menthol notes. The whole is well balanced. The finish is short but it's quite a festive rum and so the little length is coherent.

On the nose apple, prune, a bit of solvent in the style of WP, also a liqueur-like side probably the influence of the part aged in cognac cask of the blend. On the palate a bit of wood, always this fresh fruity side with notes of aniseed apple and a menthol side that remains in the finish. A light rum but with a well-marked identity. I like it a lot. Lots of originality and I don't even mention the price ... 🥳

17.10.2022 Going through samples at home. Notes Medium dark in colour. Nose Light wood, cherry, dried fruit, light nutts, light metallic. Palate Light wood, faint medicinal fruits, light cherry, dried fruit, light medicinal, light metallic, naturally sweet. Finish Medium long, light wood, fruits, light mango, spice, light vegetal.

I find it very thin, possibly as an easy mixer but nothing more. For me, it's one of the most disappointing rums from Mauritius that I've had in my glass so far. We tested various rums from Mauritius that Gunnar, a big thank you for that, split as a set.

Found in a small store in the country for 39 euros. For this it is a super PLV. Could use a little more power and does not come to the last CDI of Perola ran, but for the money really neat. Fruit and caramel wrapped in menthol, eucalyptus and leather. Like a fruity cooling spray. That's what I like about the Grays in general and here's a small piece of it at a very reasonable price

I didn't expect liking it this much. Sort of reminds me of a Bellevue 1998, again very Agricoly. Fresh but plenty of spices. Warm and round. A bit like coughing syrop (thyme and eucalyptus). That last one hits harder in taste than in the nose. Add some peaches (ripe flat ones) and a bit of kiwi to the mix. Really pleasant. If only this was 50% instead of 40%. Bang For Your Buck!!!

A rum from Mauritius, with a surprising and pleasant nose of eucalyptus and menthol freshness, exotic, red and dried fruits as well as a touch of spices, caramel and burnt sugar. It's very smooth but quite inviting. The attack on the palate is thinner, you feel the dilution with a watery side that dulls the flavors. Eucalyptus, peaches, dried and exotic fruits, caramel, wood and spices form the body in the mouth, unfortunately quite bland. The finish, on vanilla, roasted wood, spices, peach and agricultural notes, is simple and of decent length. A rum that started with a beautiful olfactory potential, but unfortunately does not follow through on the palate.

Day trip Düsseldorf October 2026. Bought in the shop La Cave. Many thanks to Mae & Whisky for having wrong opening hours on Google and me standing in front of a closed door, so here instead. This was the best, nice rum.

Color amber. Aroma red berries, raspberries, spices, sweetness, a bit of wood. Taste fruity, red fruit, herbs, later wood, coffee, dark chocolate, bitter cocoa, alcohol well integrated. Finish medium-long coffee, wood, cocoa.
