Grays New Grove Old Tradition 10

Peach, mango and passion fruit up front, wrapped in a cool menthol-eucalyptus streak that several tasters compared to fruity cough syrup — with light wood, spice and burnt sugar behind it. The recurring gripe is the body: at 40% it reads thin and watery to many, so the nose promises more than the palate keeps. Still, a fresh, characterful 10-year from Mauritius that fans of the New Grove profile enjoy.

Found in a small store in the country for 39 euros. For this it is a super PLV. Could use a little more power and does not come to the last CDI of Perola ran, but for the money really neat. Fruit and caramel wrapped in menthol, eucalyptus and leather. Like a fruity cooling spray. That's what I like about the Grays in general and here's a small piece of it at a very reasonable price

I find it very thin, possibly as an easy mixer but nothing more. For me, it's one of the most disappointing rums from Mauritius that I've had in my glass so far. We tested various rums from Mauritius that Gunnar, a big thank you for that, split as a set.

I didn't expect liking it this much. Sort of reminds me of a Bellevue 1998, again very Agricoly. Fresh but plenty of spices. Warm and round. A bit like coughing syrop (thyme and eucalyptus). That last one hits harder in taste than in the nose. Add some peaches (ripe flat ones) and a bit of kiwi to the mix. Really pleasant. If only this was 50% instead of 40%. Bang For Your Buck!!!

Avg Rating 7.6/10 over 490 Rums

Mauritius is the rum island of the Indian Ocean, a sugarcane country that makes it all: smooth aged molasses rum, fresh-juice agricole, and the spiced and fruit-steeped rhum arrange that locals drink. That range across three rum styles makes it one of the most varied origins in rum, still flying under the radar of most drinkers.
