Feller Rumreich White Rum (13. GRF) 2024

Surprising how much an unaged German rum can carry. Eight months of fermentation shows: estery overripe tropical fruit on the nose, then a savory left turn — olive, bacon, hazelnut, bitter orange peel. At nearly 60% the alcohol sits well-integrated, and several tasters call it milder than the proof suggests. One reviewer put it near a New Yarmouth crossed with olives and orange peel.

The community says
  • Long fermentation
  • Bright olive note
  • But: Salty-vegetal funk

8,3:On the nose, the first impression we get is estery with overripe tropical fruits, vegetal molasses with an olive, nutty with an almond and some bacon. On aeration, citrus is out, cookie dough, yeast notes, a pinch of spice, pleasant banana, litchi, pineapple, dried figs, raisins. After well rested, the rum goes toward fruit schnapps feeling. 7,9:On the palate, the attack is strong, fermented, with citrus, especially an orange, like we are drinking fruit schnapps. Then some roasted notes could be noticed, with bacon, nuts. The fruits are also overripe tropical, more like an undercurrant. The molasses is vegetal with the olive, hay, a bit spicy, mineral. After resting, there are dried fruits and more&more notes towards bitter orange vodka. 7,9:The finish is long, dry and fruity with tropical, dried and citrus fruits, bitter orange stands out. Some spicy and roasted notes are present, hazelnut especially, as with long rest, we taste strong bread note..

A very great, cool rum, at a top price-performance ratio. Nose: Very fine, not too dominant ester notes, citrus, olive, a meaty note?!?, nutty Palate: The ester notes have disappeared here, replaced by a hint of fresh hay, bacon, citrus note... The alcohol is well integrated. Finish: Medium length, bitter orange peel, olive, something smoky, hazelnut and a slight bitter note.

Erstaunlich gut! High Ester Rum. Irgendwie eine Mischung aus New Yarmouth, Herr mit Olive und Orangenschalen.

#5557 14.08.2025 Enjoying a few samples in front of the computer while offering remote support to my friend in Southern Germany. Nose Fresh, medium intense, fruity, overripe, light olive, faint nutts, citrus, dried fruit, balanced. Palate Light oily, fresh, medium intense, fruity, overripe, citrus, spice, balanced, light olive, faint salt, medium spicy. Finish Medium to long, fruity, light floral, citrus, light olive. Empty glass Olive, light nutts, light orange, dried fruit. Surprisingly good rum with extremely long fermentation.

White rum is the most misunderstood shelf in the spirits store. The same label covers featherlight column-still rums built for daiquiris and unaged Jamaican overproofs that hit 63 percent and smell like a fruit market on fire. This page collects every unaged rum on RumX, from cocktail workhorses to terroir-driven cane juice spirits, each with the community rating that tells you which is which.
