This is (or better was, as the bottle is now empty) a great textbookish Jamaican rum (Hampden?) in its pure and raw beauty. Ripe tropical fruits, ester funk, some solvents, hints of spices and just the right amount of wood (almost none). I assume this is something around HGML - DOK. I have the theory that this drop would score much higher in a blind tasting or under the flag of a different bottler.

Kleine Überraschung für mich auf dem 13. GRF: Während die großen Namen alle ihre Messeabfüllungen mit über 80%, High-Ester und oder PX-Finish rausballern, gibt es bei Spahns Scotchwarehouse den ehrlichsten Hampden. Kein Finish, kein Schnickschnack, einfach ein schöner Hampden geradeaus und das zu einem Top Preis. Leider sehr wenig Infos, ich würde einen LROK in der Flasche vermuten.

Die Abfüllungen von Spahns Scotchwarehouse waren eine der Überraschungen des 13. GRF. In der Nase sehr mild. Die fast 60% merkt man nicht. Dafür sehr schöne tropische Fruchtnoten, wie reife Banane, exotische Ananas sowie Ester. Die Noten aus der Nase setzen sich am Gaumen fort und der Rum ein cremiges Gefühl auf der Zunge. Der mittellange Nachklang bietet nach der Nase und dem Gaumen keine Überraschung. Zusätzlich ein wenig Bittermandelaroma und nun machen sich auch die 59,1% mit einer leichten Schärfe bemerkbar. In Berlin haben wir am Stand lustiges Marque raten veranstalt. Die Entscheidung fiel letztendlich auf das Marque LROK. Sehr schöner Rum zu einem sehr guten Preis.

Nice Hampden bottling with quite some funk and solid aging from the cask. The whisky finish isn’t overwhelming and adds only some suttle notes. Nicely done. To add the the Mark guessing: I’m in the middle of the range and think this is HLCF - some nice funk but not overboarding overall.

Danke erstmal an Chris2302, hatte voll vergessen dass der Rum noch bei dir rum liegt für mich. Anfangs war ich sehr skeptisch als ich auf dem Etikett gelesen habe, dass das Teil ein Whisky Finish hat. Aber wurde echt positiv überrascht was bei dieser Art Rum für mich echt erstaunlich ist.
