Anyone who wants Hampden-style Jamaica without the gimmicks will get along with this one. Ripe banana, pineapple, ester funk and a whiff of glue and nail polish, with barely any wood in the way. Several tasters guessed a Hampden mark and called it the "honestest Hampden" of the festival — no finish, no fireworks, just a straight tropical-fruit-and-funk profile at cask strength.

8,3:On the nose, esters, nail polish, glue, varnish, overripe tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, citrus and green fruits, briny olive, hay, allspice and pastry, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, wood is smoky, meaty, molasses is earthy, rubber and dairy hints arise, slightly hot feeling. 8,3:On the palate, the attack is funky with esters, solvents, fruity with overripe tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, papaya hints, citrus and green fruits, molasses is vegetal with briny olive, earthy, fermented notes like creamy dairy arise, slightly astringent, the wood is spicy with allspice, ginger, smoky, meaty, brings cookie dough, biscuits, nuts, metallic patina joins. 8,2:The finish is medium long, dry, with tropical fruits pairing smoky, spicy wood, medicinal and chemical notes. First of all, thanks to Chris2302, I totally forgot that the rum was still lying around with you for me. At first, I was very skeptical when I read on the label that this thing has a whisky finish. But I was really positively surprised, which is really amazing for this type of rum for me.

The bottlings from Spahns Scotchwarehouse were one of the surprises of the 13th GRF. Very mild on the nose. You don't notice the almost 60%. Instead, very nice tropical fruit notes like ripe banana, exotic pineapple and esters. The notes from the nose continue on the palate and the rum has a creamy feeling on the tongue. The medium-long finish offers no surprise after the nose and palate. Additionally a bit of bitter almond aroma and now the 59.1% make themselves noticeable with a slight sharpness. In Berlin we had a fun brand guessing game at the booth. The decision finally fell on the brand LROK. Very nice rum at a very good price.

Tried for the first time at the German Rum Festival 2024 and later took it home after trying again at other fairs. A nice obviously Hampden rum in the medium ester range at a good price. No real surprises but this thing just delivers what it should. Almost pure Jamaica profile. Great.

A little surprise for me at the 13th GRF: While the big names all blast out their fair bottlings with over 80%, high-ester and/or PX finish, Spahns Scotchwarehouse offers the most honest Hampden. No finish, no frills, just a nice straightforward Hampden and at a top price. Unfortunately very little info, I would suspect an LROK in the bottle.

Nice Hampden bottling with quite some funk and solid aging from the cask. The whisky finish isn’t overwhelming and adds only some suttle notes. Nicely done. To add the the Mark guessing: I’m in the middle of the range and think this is HLCF - some nice funk but not overboarding overall.

This is (or better was, as the bottle is now empty) a great textbookish Jamaican rum (Hampden?) in its pure and raw beauty. Ripe tropical fruits, ester funk, some solvents, hints of spices and just the right amount of wood (almost none). I assume this is something around HGML - DOK. I have the theory that this drop would score much higher in a blind tasting or under the flag of a different bottler.
