Solid Foursquare with lots of glue but no big surprises. Most of the alcohol fades after a while, but in my opinion it still pinches a little. More vanilla/coconut/gluten/oak on the nose ... then more cocoa/chocolate and some red fruit on the palate.

Classic Foursquare on the nose and on the palate the whole thing was very round but also quite thin. At that ABV I expected it to be stronger. The finish was medium to short. But tastes good 😀

8,1:On the nose, the first note is glue, then coconut, toasted, further on baking spices, a roasted wood brings caramel, nuts and molasses is vegetal with tobacco. On aeration, metallic notes arise, dried fruits with apricot, raisin and some citrus.There are pleasant pastry notes, cocoa and some petrol. 8,2:On the palate, the attack is mostly woody with roasted notes like caramel, nuts, cocoa, spicy with vanilla, baking spices, certainly we notice bourbon yellow fruits, dried fruits, toasted coconut and even banana.Molasses brings tobacco, other vegetal notes, with resting, the rum is more round with new notes like maple, hazelnut and citrus. Petrol flows underneath, glue is not disturbing much. 7,8:The finish is long, very dry and a bit unpleasantly spicy with strong wood spice, most of the notes continue the ride with us, new arrivals are some burnt sugar, tannins and earthiness... Ein ordentlich gealterter Foursquare. Viel Klebstoff in der Nase auch wenn das Glas schon länger steht dazu Frucht und typische Noten der Bourbonfassreifung. Schön fruchtig wirkt er nach dieser Standzeit am Gaumen. Johannisbeere sticht hervor, die bleibt auch im vorwiegend trockenen Finish, da merkt man die lange Reifezeit. Sehr gut und angenehm zu trinken. Nur zur Spitze fehlt etwas Tiefe.

Today, both the Foursquare bottling by Wolfgang Klotz and the PCS bottling Mystique were tasted. Both have the typical known Foursquare notes and, as expected, both are at a high level, as usual. As a conclusion, I like the Mystique a bit better.

Blind tasted with some other Foursquare bottlings. For me, the weakest on the nose. Quite reserved and unspectacular. On the palate slightly nutty and fruity, but in the end also “just” a classic Foursquare. Unfortunately not particularly attractive price-wise either.

Solidly reliable Foursquare, no more but absolutely no less. Relatively restrained on the nose, I expected a bit more tropical from the 11 years. On the palate then strongly nutty, a bit of nut butter and popcorn, also tart currant. Finish slightly alcoholic.

And finally, a Foursquare from the house of Klotz. A relatively fruity one, you can also make out coconut here, otherwise also chocolate, caramel, and a bit of cocoa. I find it better than the Belize.

Nach dem ersten Öffnen relativ zurückhaltend. Dann süßlich fruchtig mit feiner Würze. Im Mund mild süß würzig, typisch Foursquare. Abgang mittellang bis kurz, mit guter Alkohol. Direktvergleich mit den ECS und wäre spannend.

Generally tasty Foursquare but unfortunately the nose is anything but inviting, more reminiscent of gasoline and car paint. On the palate then clearly better with an unusual combination of dark chocolate and red sour currant, also quite a bit of wood and some coconut chips. Overall it doesn’t really blow me away.

Lots of glue on the nose, accompanied by vanilla and coconut. Chocolate and caramel are added on the palate. Wood/barrel notes are only subtle both on the palate and in the finish. The alcohol is perfectly integrated despite the high ABV. Simply delicious for me :)

The nose is a bit rounder but less exciting than the Belize. On the palate strong but very pleasant. A few drops of water surely help here. Solid Fourquare, which still makes a very good rum.

Solid basic Foursquare. Oak wood, caramel, vanilla, coconut, dark spices, subtle fruit notes. A rounded profile that only slightly differs aromatically from other Foursquare releases, but convinces with very harmoniously integrated alcohol.

Nice bottling from Wolfgang Klotz! Quite a complex representative with some edges, but that proves character. Also a solid Foursquare that shows its age and brings nice notes of vanilla, red fruits and burnt sugar. Fun in the glass, worth spending time with it.

Hoteltasting. Angenehmer Fourquare, viel Klebstoff und typische Noten. Der Gaumen ist anfänglich recht alkoholisch, gibt sich aber. Viel Bitterschokolade,oder echter Kakao. Schön würzig, dazu fruchtige Noten Richtung roter Beeren. Der Abgang ist würzig-trocken und leicht metallisch. Danke Wolfgang fürs Sample.😉

Barbados Foursquare MBFS 2007 17y 60.2% 11 years tropics, 6 years continent, matured in bourbon Shortly after pouring, a beautifully distinct Margot candy stick with a bit of glue, yum, that starts promisingly. After airing, these coconut-chocolate and chemical tones recede and caramel, dried and tropical fruits, wood and vanilla or rather vanilla cream come through and I can't help but feel something slightly acidic somewhere in the back, but it's not a bad thing. On the palate, vanilla and coconut and beautifully expressed chocolate, wood, nuttiness, pleasant spiciness, fairly short and bitter finish. For me, a great FSQ, I really like it. Fans probably won't be especially surprised, but it definitely won't disappoint. A sure thing.

Standard Foursquare, nothing particularly surprising, maybe a bit of glue in the nose. Otherwise vanilla, coconut, chocolate, wood, spices, all quite harmonious. The alcohol isn't fully integrated, it stings a bit, but I don't see a reason not to try it.
