#5007 30.12.2024 Relaxing after getting the roast prepared for tomorrow. Nose Light wood, fruity, light citrus, spice, light earthy, light cherry, faint chocolate, light nutts. Palate Round, light oily, spice, light wood, light plum, faint salt, light orange, fruity, light nutts, faint smoke. Finish Medium to long, light wood, faint smoke, faint salt, light floral, light chocolate, dried fruit. The empty glass has prunes, banana and roasted notes. Price to quality is not very good and in my mind it's heavily overpriced compared to what you get.

Last year was one release of the highlight of whisky live Paris, this one is weaker. Definitely I'll not buy a bottle also given the price tag. Taste much more like a whisky rather than a rum, and do have a lot of issues A pity that a good distillery makes sometimes weak rums, when they price this high then it's really bad though

GRF 2025: A beautiful rum that clearly stands out in the Mount Gay range. Very fine, with notes on the fruity side. Pleasant notes of morello cherry and underneath subtly the DNA of Mount Gay. Unfortunately just hopelessly too expensive!!!

Unusually sweet, spicy and slightly smoky and earthy. Rather sweet and slightly smoky on the palate. Unusual profile, but you definitely have to take your time with it. Overall, not quite my cup of tea.

The best mount gay I've ever drunk. Really mega exciting. Very complex on the nose. Lots of floral tones with zirltrus and a hint of candy floss. Then caramel, wood, lemon and a hint of agricole on the palate. Very exciting. Should definitely be tried

Tasted in Brussels at the Rhum Fest this weekend. I wasn't able to spend much time there, but when it was warm I found it to be below the first release. Dried fruits, bananas, spices, chocolate, a real salty twist, it's quite dark and thick, but a little flat perhaps, and not very long on the palate especially if you bring all that down to price. Still, it's a great profile, and I can't wait to try the rest.

Tasted at the UK RumFest alongside the single estate first edition. The second edition is better, though I would still struggle to to justify the price tag. At around 5 years of aging it is still relatively young and doesn’t stand out enough. I appreciate the story behind the rum and it’s great that Mount Gay are putting effort into doing everything on site. As an aside I was lucky enough to meet Trudiann Branker there and she was great - very friendly and chatty.

Ähnlich zu den anderen Single Estate Abfüllungen. Sehr ausgewogen, rund und lecker. Nase: vollmundig, holzig-fruchtig, malzig.

Brussels Rhum Festival 15/03/2025 Earthy herbal. Fruity Barbados. Complex, lots going on. Fruity and herbal reminds me of Belize like rums.

15/03/25: tasted @ Brussels Rhum Festival. This was the first time tasting one of the Single Estate releases, and was a nice surprise. The nose had something fresh, which was very interesting for Barbados. The palate was also quite tasty. Nevertheless, this bottle is nowhere near worth the retail price.

30-08-2025 - Rate 7.3 German Rum Festival After a very good Blackadder we found the Mount Gay stand. Have never been a great Mount Gay fan. Foursquare is my thing. But the group had agreed that we would give Mount Gay a extra chance. But again we was a bit disappointed. Can’t feel the hype. Nose without any power. Vanilla, wood and fruits. Followed by a taste without power and punch. Shout finish with wood and small hints of spice. Who can guide us to a grate Mount Gay glass?
