A rum that has completely soaked up the sherry cask. The nose is very fruity, evoking dried grape, currant and cherry with its sweet, liqueur-like and alcoholic notes. The cask also brings a lot of spices that give a very concentrated profile, almost heavy for the nostrils. It's not bad but beware of sherry overdose. The palate is unequivocal with a clear dominance of the sherry cask, notably with sweet and caramelized aromas, dried fruits (grape), cherry, candied fruits but also spices (vanilla, chili, pepper). The rum is under the total influence of the cask, which is certainly indulgent but too invasive. This results in a loss of complexity and depth on the palate. The alcohol is present with the sherry but rather well integrated. The finish is of a decent length, absorbed by tannic notes, dried fruits, roasted and spicy wood and an almost viscous honeyed touch. The finish is concentrated, dry, not unpleasant but not surprising either. A Mauritian rum with potential but the aging has altered the original profile far too much.

#7117 03.08.2026 Relaxing with a few samples after a horrible night with bad sleep terrible headache and bad stomach. Just slouching in front of the TV today trying to recover. Pretty decent rum, but the price tag is a bit off in my mind. Rounded profile with wood, chocolate, nutts, varnish, coffee, mint and some medicinal notes.
