Sip it neat and give it a few minutes in the hand — this 19-year Nicaraguan single cask needs air to unfold. What comes out is dark cocoa, espresso, dried fruit and roasted coconut, with a sour-cherry edge and a long warm finish. At 60% the alcohol sits surprisingly well-integrated. One taster nailed it as "chocolate like from mommy"; another found the vanilla-and-honey side a touch heavy.

A Nicaragua with character: raw power mixed with a typically Central American sweetness. It absolutely needs airing to reveal its facets. You find cocoa, dark chocolate, a smoky woodiness, and a subtle bitterness (black cherry?). A nice profile, for sure, but a bit pricey for a product that doesn't completely blow me away.

#4857 Whisky Live in Paris 27.09.2024-30.09.2024. Another great event meeting a lot of RumX new and old friends. This year three weren't as many new releases as in 2023, but I still had a great time. Nose Wood, fruits, light dried fruit, light coffee, chocolate, light caramel, spice. Palate Round, balanced, medium spicy, light wood, spice, dried fruit, light caramel, natural sweetness, light dry. Faint cherry. Finish Long and warm, round, light oily, wood, light roasted, light chocolate, light nutts, light cherry. A very nice rum that you should give a try if you get the chance. It needs to rest for a few minutes while you warm it in your hand to fully open up.

By far one of the best Nicaragua Single Casks I've had in the glass so far. The alcohol is surprisingly well integrated. An intense flavor bomb of cocoa, caramel, dried fruits, roasted coconut chips, sour cherry and spicy espresso with milk foam like an espresso macchiato with an extra shot basically. Really delicious and a positive surprise. The price is debatable though. For a Spaniard, over €200 is quite steep – single cask or not.

Tasted at Whisky Live Paris 2024 - quick tasting notes, you've been warned. Frankly, Nicaragua isn't my thing, a little too much vanilla and honey, which is a pity because there are also spices and a few fruits that deserve to be less crushed.

For me one of the best rums of the Spanish style, rarely have I drunk something so nicely balanced with perfectly integrated alcohol. Classic sweet aromas with vanilla, coconut, caramel but also a little red fruit with dried fruit. In the finish nice spice notes (wintery). Great rum for every evening, in my opinion.
