Ripe peach and dried apricot lead, backed by red-berry jam, sour cherry and a clear cognac-cask note that runs through nose and palate. Several tasters catch a light plastic/bakelite edge typical of Reunion, then a vegetal, almost earthy finish. Fans found the nose gorgeous and the fruit "confits/confiturés"; a couple felt the palate lands just under the aromas. A 59% single cask that stays balanced.

#4940 Whisky Live in Paris 27.09.2024-30.09.2024. Another great event meeting a lot of RumX new and old friends. This year three weren't as many new releases as in 2023, but I still had a great time. Nose Balanced, light wood, fruits, berries, faint honey, light vegetal, faint mineral. Palate Round, light cognac, light vegetal, faint wood, fruits, berries, light mineral, faint caramel, light sugarcane. Finish Medium long, fresh, light wood, berries, faint caramel, light citrus, sugarcane, light vegetal.

Nice nose, very fresh, cane and dried apricot. It smells agricole. The mouth is lively, slightly spicy. It's vegetal, the yellow fruits disappear in favor of red fruits, slight cherry bitterness, not unpleasant! A very beautiful nose, a mouth a bit below in my opinion.

Very fruity, red-fruit-driven profile. The fruit is candied/confitured. On the nose, there's a certain pleasant freshness, while on the palate there's a vegetal, even earthy finish. There's a hint of cognac on both the nose and palate. Quite pleasant overall.

Notes from Whisky Live Paris 2024 - to be reviewed and deepened. First crush of the show (excluding white)! A crazy aromatic intensity, a cognac cask that I usually love and that hit the mark directly for me. Wax, apricot, peach, cognac, a little mineral and salty side to counterbalance and add complexity. Price a bit high for me at the moment, which prevented me from buying, but I will probably take some samples again.

New bottle: Very nice nose, quite complex, with a slight note of plastic / bakelite quite typical of some rums from Réunion (Rivière du Mât). The palate contrasts strongly, with a big syrupy sweetness, strong woodiness tending towards dark chocolate, and a medium finish stretching towards candied fruits (prunes, raisins / cognac). The whole is very nice, the alcohol is very well integrated, but it's not the best Isautier I've had in my glass. You can feel it has nice things to express with oxidation, I will come back to it with pleasure.
