Here's the surprise: at 50% the alcohol sits well-integrated rather than hot. It's a Mauritius cane-juice agricole — fresh sugarcane, citrus, honey and a green, floral, mineral streak. Several tasters found it pleasant but "eindimensional," and more than one reaches for it as a mixer. Rounded and clean, with its own quiet personality, but not much depth for slow sipping.

Ein wirklich außergewöhnlich toller, ungereifter Rum. Die Fermentation in offenen Tanks sowie die Pot Still-Anlage (ich meine aus der Tschechischen Republik) sowie viel Know-How beim Brennen, ergeben diesen Obstkorb im Glas. Auf der Reise in Mauritius tatsächlich der beste Ungereifte, den wir finden konnten. Aber Achtung, es muss der mit rotem Etikett sein. Die Nase ist kraftvoll, changiert jedoch von Tag zu Tag, am einen Tag identifiziert er sich als Agricole Rum (nur in der Nase, packt die Mistgabeln wieder ein, ich weiß dass Mauritius kein AOP-Siegel bekommt), am nächsten Tag riecht er wie ein Obstler, am wiederum nächsten ist er dann ein astreiner Himbeer-Edelbrand. Macht noch mehr Spaß im Ti Punch, Daiquiri oder Mojito. Sollte man probiert haben, wenn man jetzt keine High Ester zum Mischen braucht. Probiert und gekauft bei der Destillerie (05/26), verifiziert (08/26) in Ellmau.

26-27.11.2024 Hanse Spirit Retasting this rum and still think it's a good mixer not that good a sipper. Tried it in a Coca Cola when I got home and it's not a bad mix actually. ------------------- We use this rum in mixers and for rum punch.

And now Agricole again, this time from Saint Aubin. Agricole on the nose, of course, as well as sugar cane and tropical fruit. On the palate again Agricole, sugar cane and citrus fruits, it is also very herbal and floral.

Quite a nice agricole with well-integrated alcohol. Rather on the mineral side, also somewhat one-dimensional.

The nose is soft and delicate, with citrus, custard, roasted corn, and some ripe tropical fruit. The palate is savory, sweet, vegetal and with a hint of pepper and citrus. Very simple and rounded, but with its own personality that I don't mind. Blended it can offer more. In the empty glass some fermented.
