#4935 Whisky Live in Paris 27.09.2024-30.09.2024. Another great event meeting a lot of RumX new and old friends. This year three weren't as many new releases as in 2023, but I still had a great time. Nose Fresh, round, fruity, light wood, faint roasted, pineapple, light citrus, faint leather. Palate Fresh, round, light wood, light leather, faint rubber, overripe, banana, faint citrus, faint ginger. Finish Long and warm, light wood, medium dry, fruity, light pineapple, faint leather, faint rubber.

Finally a slightly better Planteray today. A Clarendon with a very fresh and fruity nose. Pineapple is recognizable. The palate is also very fruity, with citrus fruits, pineapple and banana. Very refreshing.

A funky, beefy Clarendon. The MLC mark expresses itself from the very first moments on the nose with glue, wood varnish and esters, but also with beautiful exotic fruits on pineapple, banana and mango. We find the Clarendon paste with its fresh, herbaceous character, intense, slightly toasted woodiness and lively spices. The profile is varied and balanced. The attack on the palate is rather peachy for the alcohol level. The astringent, medicinal side takes over, followed by roasted, spicy wood and a subtle hint of dark chocolate, before herbaceous notes follow. There's also a hint of dried and tropical fruits, which add a touch of sweetness. A relatively powerful profile for its alcohol level, not unpleasant but rather intense. The finish is long, marked by fruity (banana, pineapple), herbaceous and floral tones. Tobacco, esters, spicy notes and roasted wood spice up the already astringent and dry finish. A complex profile halfway between funk and old-fashioned rum, not the most obvious to drink but offering a fine overall experience. The price is somewhat questionable, but it's unlikely that we'd go lower for a rum of this age, vintage and mark.

Pear, kiwi and papaya meet on the nose. There is also an almost chalky mouthfeel on the palate, furry and astringent, as well as slightly medicinal. Reminiscent of camphor, gum, menthol and ginger tea, together with various overripe fruits. Extremely fresh on the finish and full-bodied. Not necessarily to my taste, but still well made and of a relatively high standard. Would certainly also have been exciting at cask strength, but on the other hand the aromas are so precise and to the point.

This MLC is a solid stunner for me. The explosion of fresh tropical fruits, red berries, and a hint of melon on the nose just pulls you in. The palate is beautifully balanced with juicy notes of mango, dates, and figs, all draped in a touch of honey. My only gripe? Why isn’t this at cask strength! With a bit more ABV, this could’ve hit legendary status. Still, what a beauty, a true fruit bomb that leaves you wanting more. Honestly, it’s the kind of rum I’d love to have a full bottle of at home.

An incredibly indulgent nose, both powerful and full of sweetness. Vanilla, chocolate but also wood and esters. On the palate, power takes over sweetness at first. Wood, mild spices, and a mentholated side dominate. Tobacco and incense come next. Long finish on incense. A delicious rum but lacking fruit and indulgence.

It is a balanced 20 year old rum. I smell tropical fruits in the aroma, especially pineapple. On the palate, I have overripe fruit and ginger. The alcohol strength is not very noticeable but it doesn't matter at all. It's a good, smooth Jamaican rum.
