Agricole drinkers curious about Japanese Mizunara oak are the audience here. Expect fresh sugarcane up front, then a shift to earthy, mineral, peppery and grassy notes, with light coconut and citrus around the edges. The nose promises toffee sweetness the dry, vegetal palate doesn't deliver. Several tasters found it enjoyable but young, and felt the Mizunara barrel stays subtle rather than transforming the rhum.

#4938 Whisky Live in Paris 27.09.2024-30.09.2024. Another great event meeting a lot of RumX new and old friends. This year three weren't as many new releases as in 2023, but I still had a great time. Nose Light, round, balanced, sweet, light wood, faint roasted, fruits, light coconut, faint citrus, light vegetal, sugarcane. Palate Balanced, velvety, oily, sweet, faint wood, faint smoke, fruits, light coconut, sugarcane, faint vegetal, spice. Finish Medium to long, balanced, velvety, oily, sweet, light coconut, faint caramel, sugarcane, light vegetal. This is a very successful experiment with the Mizunara casks. Another rum I think most people can enjoy.

Découvert au carré VIP du Limoges Spirits Festival 2025. 👃 Profil assez doux, léger et équilibré. Premier nez fruité, frais, agrumes sur le zeste, poire jaune du jardin, ananas, noix de coco. La canne à sucre présente sans être dominante, qui apporte un côté végétal attendu ainsi que des notes de fleurs d'arbres fruitiers. 😋 La canne à sucre se veut plus terreuse, végétale, florale et herbacée. Herbe fraîche humide coupée, un boisé épicé très léger, quelques notes fruitées en deçà du nez, agrumes et coco. Boisé typique misunana, sensation tannique. Je le trouve assez alcooleux. ⛳ Plutôt équilibrée, canne à sucre confite, sensation herbeuse, frais, ananas et noix de coco, boisé jeune, caramel doux léger. 💡 Ne m'a pas plus convaincu que ça face à un classic profil 105. C'est bon mais il ne vaut pas son prix.

The nose promises a lot of sweetness, almost toffee-like with some peach iced tea and coconut chips. The taste is rather dry, mineral, bitter, very vegetal, earthy, and slightly smoky, with an unusual sweetness... The alcohol could be better integrated. Overall, I expected more here, especially because of the mizunara cask, which doesn't come through as much as I had hoped...

On the nose: First its pretty sugarcane forward, but once it opens up, you get more olive brine notes. Balanced. Roasted. Little bit of citrus notes and little bit of woody notes. Taste: Fresh sugarcane notes and earthy notes. Then you get more peppery notes. Woody notes. Mouthfeel is sugarcane juice but slightly oily. Balanced Finish: Sweet sugarcane notes at first. Then it changes to vegetal, mouthfeel gets oily and you get little bit of woody notes. I am unfamiliar with mizunara wood and what mizunara casks adds to the spirit, so maybe somekind of sideby side review would help, but to me, this was quality coreline Neisson release with nothing special that would justify the pricetag. Good rum, but taste before you buy it.

03/10/2025: Neisson tasting @ TasTToe. The Mizunara cask gives this rhum a noticeable and interesting flavour. I preferred this over the Profil 62 and Profil Equilibre. Unfortunately, using these type of casks makes the rhum way too expensive. I would never buy it at the current price.
