Grenada is gradually becoming an emerging terroir with its typical new aged profiles, and this Renegade is the perfect illustration. The nose is rather light, but hides its strengths well. Tropical fruit parades with sugarcane and pastries, while vegetal and medicinal notes give a little more character with wood and spices. The profile is varied and rather balanced, with each of the aromatic categories being felt. The attack on the palate is a little more pronounced, with saline and mineral notes that go well with the vegetal and medicinal tones. This almost artificial side is nevertheless finer and melts into the framework with the wood, rather young but which has had time to refine the profile with pretty spices. Fruit (banana, pineapple, citrus) is present, just enough to soften the relatively dry palate. The alcohol is well integrated. The finish is of medium length, but offers an interesting mix between the sweetness of caramel and fresher sugarcane, toasty woodiness and medicinal, chemical notes on the finish, followed by tropical fruit and a grassy influence. Renegade moves upmarket with this more elaborate release, halfway between spirited youth and the finesse of ageing experience.

#4939 Whisky Live in Paris 27.09.2024-30.09.2024. Another great event meeting a lot of RumX new and old friends. This year three weren't as many new releases as in 2023, but I still had a great time. Nose Light, sweet, faint wood, light minerals, light vegetal, light citrus, olive, sugarcane. Palate Round, sweet, light wood, sugarcane, light vegetal, olive, light salt, fresh, light citrus, faint mineral. Finish Medium long, fresh, round, sweet, light wood, sugarcane, light olive, faint grass, light herbal.
