"Damn…this is a nice one, fruity and smooth," one member wrote, and that's the honest middle ground here. Expect juicy sugarcane, honey, banana and raspberry with light spice and a faint glue note — unmistakably Haitian. The Caroni cask barely registers; most tasters can only guess at it. I really didn't expect much from this bottling. I also didn't know that it was stored in a Caroni cask. O.k. I can't taste any of that now, it's more of a hint than a taste. In conclusion, for me it's really okay for the price. Those who like the Vieux from Providence will also be well advised here.

Intense nose, fresh mint, flambéed bananas, fruity, spices (clove). On the palate, warming, spicy, creamy, long-lasting, hints of modeling clay/glue, licorice, drying out. Finish: medium, spicy, hints of light coal/burnt banana. With air it becomes fruitier and more pleasing on the nose.

8,8:On the nose, a juicy sugarcane, syrupy, vegetal with mushrooms, olive is the first impression we get with, overripe banana, some red fruits like raspberry, citrus and roasted wood notes like chocolate, cookie dough, spicy with vanilla.We should not forget medicinal notes with esters, rubber. On aeration, we really see the complexity, greatness of this rather young rum with variety of different notes arising like red bell peppers and floral from vegetal side, tons of fruit like dried with prunes, apricots, then pineapple, cherry and peaches, like a very attractive marmelade.The wood brings spices like a clove, cinnamon, more charred, smoky notes like leather, coffee, confectionery with fruitcake, gingerbread...If we are persistent, camphor is also noticed...Great complexity, but balanced and round. 8,7:On the palate, the attack is delicious, sweet, balanced and oily with juicy sugarcane honey, flowery, vegetal, herbaceous, the wood might be charred with chocolate, caramel, nuts, later cream toffee, pastry like biscuits, spicy with salt, ginger, cinnamon, vanilla and umami.The fruits are yellow with peaches, dried with raisins and tropical with banana, must not forget red fruits with raspberry and sour cherry, later with rest, they become candied.Esters are low, some glue is obvious...Darn' complex, round and balanced. 8,7:The finish is long, dry, again complex, slightly tannic, new fruits arrive like coconut, pear, pineapple, then crunchy bread, pepper and some tobacco...

#4854 Whisky Live in Paris 27.09.2024-30.09.2024. Another great event meeting a lot of RumX new and old friends. This year three weren't as many new releases as in 2023, but I still had a great time. Nose Fresh, medium intense, fruity, banana, spice, sugarcane, light medicinal, faint clove. Palate Warm, medium intense, oily, light honey, light sugarcane, fruity, ginger, spice, light anise, faint vegetal. Finish Long and warm, faint wood, fruits, pineapple, oily, light citrus, ginger, light herbal.

I was really looking forward to this sample from Zabo! Unfortunately, the rum didn't deliver... can't compete with the other releases at all. Very flat, almost meaningless... No purchase recommendation

Cette mise en bouteille est assez bien réussie, mais je la trouve moins bien que le Providence 2019 de Velier , où on avait beaucoup plus l empreinte du fût caroni. Ici il y a moins d empyreumatique , au profit de fruité comme la banane. Un peu de sale caroniesque en milieu de bouche, mais ça reste très éphémère.

I like the nose a little better than the palate, but I still find the overall package harmonious. The nose has a great combination of banana and raspberry that rocks this rum. It certainly tastes great in drinks but also tastes OK on its own

I was a bit hyped to try this bottling, as a Clairin big fan, even though this one here is from Providence. On the nose, I have olive brine, honey syrup, fruits, it's sweet and mellow. It's unmistakably a Haitian rum, rather on the calm side, the cask also probably helped to mellow it down. On the mouth, it's sweet, spicy, slightly herbal. It's sweet from sugarcane but also hot, the Caro I cask left a mark here, even if not a very strong one but it's still noticeable with some dark oily notes, which blend well with the herbal notes already present in the blend. The final is medium long, it's on the young wood, the sugar cane and the herbal notes. For the price (around 95€ at the moment) it's a nicely decent rum, I wouldn't regret if I bought the whole bottle. It's on the quality level of a Clairin Ansyen but more expensive, which will force me to give it a lower rating compared to those.

A bottling that positively surprised me once again. The sweetness of sugarcane and honey meets fresh vegetal aromas, intense herbs, and various fruits (which differ from nose to finish).

Very fine, harmonious rum. The flavor notes are rather subtle. Spices, honey, lightly fruity (raspberry), light sweetness. The alcohol is well integrated. However, it lacks depth and unfortunately the finish is very thin.

Enticing sugarcane sweetness paired with honey, some pastry and spices. No Caroni influence detectable. I like it better than the last two Providence bottlings. Higher score would have been possible with a longer finish and a bit more intensity.
