#4848 Whisky Live in Paris 27.09.2024-30.09.2024. Another great event meeting a lot of RumX new and old friends. This year three weren't as many new releases as in 2023, but I still had a great time. Nose Fresh, light, light wood, fruity, light mint, light banana, floral, faint chocolate. Palate Round, medium dry, light wood, faint roasted, fruity, faint smoke, light floral, light prunes, anise. Finish Long, light wood, fruits, light floral, light dried fruit, light sugarcane, faint glue, faint chocolate. Also a pretty average Velier release where the price tag will outperform the quality.

Wow! Absolute beast! Overripe strawberry & banana, butter biscuit dough, a bit of bacon, tropical fruits, dark chocolate, mint and plenty of glue, a little star anise. Incredibly complex and wonderfully balanced. A real tasty treat 😃

Velier - Hampden 13 years 2010 LROK - Magnum Series #2 - 60%, Jamaica. How could I have missed it at WLP? Probably because the Clarendon had disappointed me, and I'd moved on to the next stand... fortunately this catch-up session was an eye-opener. This Mark brings some esters without attacking too much (it's a change from my last DOK), some wax... I found quite a bit of strawberry, mint and a background of tea leaves. Of course, the fruit is there, rather candied, but not as exuberant as usual. They're jostled by empyreumatic notes that grow with time, settling on the palate for a long time. Quite evolutionary and different from the last Hampden I tasted, I don't know if it's a coup de coeur or just a different profile that appealed to me at the time.

And to finish off a proper Hampden. That was it with the rums from Passion Rum, most very tasty. Also here mostly tropical fruits (banana and pineapple), as well as some ester. Very tasty.

Bomba LROK 2010 13y 60%, fruity and complex. Very fun to drink! Together with the C<>H, they are my favorite ester marks.

Really nice LROK profile - rich fruit aroma, bitter spices and heavy sweetness in a balanced flavor profile. Very accessible yet exciting Hampden. In my opinion the highlight of the Webb series.

... Hampden, the legendary Jamaican distillery that produces rum as well as alcohol for perfume. In all the rums from this distillery you will taste wild esters, after which your whole organism will soak up the smell of golden tropical fruits - mango, papaya, pineapple, peach. One of the "must try before you die" rums

Convincing , fat , full , well pronounced esters , well integrated alcohol , 13 y, maybe I doubt on LROK... but I was at whisky live and it was one of the most satisfying drinks among the basic offerings. Because basic remains apart from the price

21/02/25: Velier tasting @ TastToe. I have a soft spot for Hampden in general, and I find this LROK mark quite tasty. Nose and palate are not overwhelming you with esters, but are nicely balanced. Too bad this bottle is hugely overpriced in my opinion.

Road Rummers S8 T4 Velier tasting Interesting mark. Very balanced nose with Hampden funk and citrus notes. Mouth and finish nothing special. Lots of banana. I had way better Hampdens then this. This is way overpriced.

13yo Hampden. LROK Nose: light, delicate. Wood play main role. Ripe fruits, dry apricots, raisins, marmalade. Some flowers, strawberry & gooseberry. Touch of cigar, maple syrup & brine. Interesting. Palate: rich, but elegant. Esters, pineapple, banana, berries, mango, litchi. Buttery texture, hint of smoke & toasted notes. Some tar and coriander. Great ! Aftertaste: long, rich. Minty, with light eaters, fruits, flowers & little bit woody. Conclusion: This Hampden not typical. Less esters, but great age. Really tasty & elegant.
