Made for Saint James loyalists who like their agricole at 12 years — the point one taster calls the sweet spot, before the wood takes over. Chocolate, citrus and a green sugarcane edge run through a nose most people rate higher than the palate. That's the recurring gripe: at 45% the mouth turns a little thin and watery, with the flavors fading before the finish gets going.

Whisky Live Paris 2024 (fair rating, only overall score and personal purchase recommendation): Can't get excited, same as the other three releases of the second Magnum series. Still quite interesting on the nose, somehow restrained and watered down on the palate. It only gets 8.0 because of the nice nose. I don't need a bottle of it.

20-04-2025 - Rate 3.9 I’m just not a Saint James fan. Every Saint James rum I have tasted I have also disliked. They all have the same profile and its just not for me. And this one is no different. A part of our Alex Webb Efition tasting. I can’t say anything nice so I’ll just leave it at this.

I am a lover of rum from the Saint James distillery. This one is quite good, but a higher alcohol content would have made it much better. In fact, at times the sip on the palate is a little empty. It's a shame because the nose is really good!

Unfortunately comes across as somewhat watery and lacking expression overall. The aromas remain pale, and the finish lacks depth and persistence. For me, not a convincing representative of its origin at all.

WL 2024 For me, 12 years is the right age for Saint James. Before that, it hasn't yet reached its full potential, and after that, most of the time it declines into something too woody/spicy. Not really my favorite distillery, but I liked this one.

Not quite sure why this Rhum tastes like dish soap, but the base is there and it’s really not bad… Just that dish soap taste ruins it. Never had this experience with Saint James, very odd.
