Anyone expecting a Jamaican ester bomb will be surprised — this Clarendon is the gentle end of the island. Roasted coffee and mocha, orange peel, brown sugar and a soft caramel-vanilla sweetness carry it, with a touch of anise and light citrus. At 60% it's warm, and a couple of tasters found the alcohol pushy neat. Easy sipping at a high level, low on funk.

#4847 Whisky Live in Paris 27.09.2024-30.09.2024. Another great event meeting a lot of RumX new and old friends. This year three weren't as many new releases as in 2023, but I still had a great time. Nose Medium intense, fruity, overripe, light floral, light citrus, spice, light ginger, light vegetal, light caramel. Palate Warm, fruity, light citrus, light wood, light anise, light sugarcane, faint caramel, faint tobacco, medium dry. Finish Medium to long, light wood, light anise, light citrus, light caramel, light earthy, light honey. Again a bit disappointing thinking about this is a Velier release.

Ok, it's typically Clarendon column rum. Nose: light, woody. Dark fruits, some spices, brown sugar, cinnamon, young wood, little touch of mint. Taste: Alcohol to much. Spices, oak milk chocolate, cinnamon, raisin, maple syrup, some glue. That's tasty :) Aftertaste: burnt, little sweet, a dominate of dark fruits, oak & spices.

Very unusual and super tasty Clarendon! A positive surprise! Coffee, mocha, orange peel, aniseed, caramel and citrus fruits with some tobacco and slightly fermented tropical fruit and a fine sweetness! Top!!!

I actually like this Clarendon very much. Roasty nose, caramel and brown sugar are recognizable here. On the palate then a slight fruitiness, but also a lot of caramel and some sugarcane, pleasantly sweet.

On the last turn, my opinion changed slightly. It is pretty clear that this rum is a low esters one, but the first times I had taken a sip I was pretty negative to this one. Dram by dram it got better, keeping in mind the esters level. Coconut and banana, but also ethereal and floral notes are the main traits.

One of the best in this series. Rum with great character on both nose and palate. I will probably buy a bottle to open because I generally like Clarendons and this one is no exception, indeed!

Very accessible, but by no means monotonous rum. The nose and palate quickly make it clear that this is not a high ester bomb, but a sweet profile with beautiful wood spice and elegant caramel-vanilla notes. Flanked by a hint of fresh citrus notes, this is a truly harmonious release that offers easy sipping at a high level.

Road Rummers S8 T4 Velier tasting This one finished first in the voting. But I don't get it. Very closed rum overall. Needs to rest to bring out some nose. Mouth and finish is just sweet, getting almost nothing else from this rum. Very disappointing.

21/02/25: Velier tasting @ TastToe. I was rather disappointed with this rum. Nose was very closed from the start, and needed quite some time to open up. Overall flavour was pretty average, I expected something way more interesting. I don't get why this Clarendon won the tasting...
