Velier Beenleigh Alex Webb Edition 2015
Anyone who loves fruity, easygoing rum in the Foursquare mold will feel at home here. This Australian Beenleigh leans hard into pear and apple, with peach, honey and a little vanilla and spice behind it. Several tasters call it tasty and clean but "one dimensional" — that huge pear note carries the whole thing. At 60% it stays fresh and fruit-forward rather than deep.

How does Velier Beenleigh Alex Webb Edition 2015 taste?
Summarized by AI from community reviews.
Fruity pear-and-peach sipper, easy but simple Well-liked as a clean, fruit-driven pour with an "endless pear finish." Most agree it's enjoyable but not complex, and a few expected more depth from a Velier.

22.03.2025 Retasting at Whisky Watcher tasting. ---------------------- #4846 Whisky Live in Paris 27.09.2024-30.09.2024. Another great event meeting a lot of RumX new and old friends. This year three weren't as many new releases as in 2023, but I still had a great time. Nose Fresh, light, fruity, light prunes, faint honey, light wood, sugarcane, light peaches, spice. Palate Round, light wood, faint roasted, fruity, light ginger, pineapple, spice, light citrus, faint caramel. Finish Medium long, light wood, fruits, light caramel, light sugarcane, light herbal, light earthy. I had expected a far better quality thinking about it's a Velier, but sometimes you just get a bit disappointed. Not a bad rum but I think the price tag will outperform the quality.

Admittedly, new Beenleigh's are far from my sweet spot. Anyway, this one is pretty unusual with a fresh note that goes along with agrumes and white fruit notes that are more typical of the aussie distillery

Australia Artur’s Advent calendar day 18. A much fresher and more vegetal nose than the Velier 2006. Apple and a more discreet wood. The palate is also fresh and fruity with some tropical fruits as well. The finish is medium length, focused on fruits and freshness with red fruit aromas right at the end. A rum much more interesting than I expected.

Artur's Australian Advent Calendar 2025 Door 18. Here, the fruit takes over for me, could be a bit more subtle. Pear, pineapple, peach, and citrus fruits can be detected, as well as a bit of caramel on the palate.

Artur's Australian Advent Calendar: Quite restrained on the nose with primarily vegetal and fruity aromas, as well as sugarcane. On the palate similar, but with a nice chocolate note. In the finish, also some burnt sugar.

For me, Beenleigh makes the best quince brandy that isn't made from quinces. Even with this rather young bottling, the yellow pome fruit notes are turned up to the max again, enormous amounts of quince, pear and apple. The taste, equipped with a very soft mouthfeel for 60%, is really impressively delicious and immensely fruity, has a natural honey sweetness and floral notes of elderflower. Unfortunately, this level cannot quite be maintained in the rather short finish.

Very typical and surprisingly round young beenleigh. You can definitely do it! Nice fruitiness paired with ginger spiciness and a slightly metallic note in the finish...the typical pear note is also there full broadside.

Hard to believe that the distillate was allowed to mature for less than a decade - the spicy intensity feels much older and reminds me in combination with the peach note of cognacs from the 60s or 70s. This release also benefits - like the other bottlings of the Webb series - from generous oxidation in the glass. Fascinating how the boundaries between spirit categories can blur. Well done.

Australia Artur Advent Calendar 2025 (18) Tastes like a fruity bourbon. Light fruit, citrus... At the back a bit sharp-edged and lots of peach with some marzipan. 64.8% 16 years first fill Bourbon Tip: RX17845

Ah if it weren't for the bitterness and pronounced tannins on the finish, it would be almost perfect. Very fruity, apple, peach, strong menthol, a little touch of varnish, beautiful vanilla and smooth honey... very well done! Very good. Edit: but what complexity. A little bomb between fruits, spices, wax, butter, vegetal notes, citrus and ginger... superb!

Road Rummers S8 T4 Velier tasting The only one I might buy from the Alex Webb series. If you like fruity rums like Foursquare, you are going to like this. But its one dimensional over the whole line. No complexity, just good fruity rum. Endless pear finish... If you need your vitamins, this is it.

21/02/25: Velier tasting @ TastToe. This is quality stuff. I always get a huge pear/apple note when tasting Beenleigh, and this was also the case with this one. Not super complex or challenging, but just decent, tasty stuff. Recommended.
Review by Vladimír Rejholec (AlkoTip)
Strong fruity Australia Beenleigh. Sweet tangerine, minty, with well integrated alcohol. It doesn't have the depth of some of the old Guyanese, Trinidadian or Jamaican, but it's good and I enjoyed it.

Weaker fruity aroma, interesting taste which I haven't tasted for a long time, in the taste soaked pear and a longer spicy finish
Review by Miloš Gruškovský St
Colour: Amber. Aroma: More delicate, fruit, vanilla, wood, molasses, delicate florality. Flavour: Fruit, oiliness, onset of strength, spice, vanilla, light wood, slight resinousness. Departure strong, molasses and spices, strong warmth with pepperiness on the tongue.
