Green olive and apricot jam hit first — a strange, savoury-sweet combo that's pure Savanna. Underneath sit overripe tropical fruit, a chemical varnish edge and a sour, mineral iodine streak. At 63% it's got real power and reads acidic and wild rather than smooth. Several tasters call the aromas gorgeous but the palate challenging; a few drops of water help.

#4845 Whisky Live in Paris 27.09.2024-30.09.2024. Another great event meeting a lot of RumX new and old friends. This year three weren't as many new releases as in 2023, but I still had a great time. Nose Fresh, medium intense, fruity, light prunes, light citrus, faint wood, faint smoke, light ester. Palate Light wood, medium spicy, fruity, light vegetal, light floral, pineapple, medium dry, light olive. Finish Medium long, fruity, light wood, light spicy, light olive, light plum. Price to quality is pretty good though it's not an ester bomb it's still very fruity and fresh.

It smells quite a bit like moonshine. Probably the closest thing to apricot with a bit of citrus. Taste super weird. It's like a moonshine again, but also like a rubber balloon. It feels immature and I have no problem finishing the sample. Ugh, I haven't had a rum this bad in a long time.

A rum tasted at Whisky Live in Paris in 2024. A strange nose with yellow fruits but mostly like old chemical chewing gum. A herbal side leaning towards dry herbs. The palate is lively and unfortunately you find that unpleasant chemical taste accompanied by quite nice yellow fruits. The finish is short and still with that unpleasant taste. A rum not totally unpleasant but no desire to taste it again. Maybe I focused too much on a flaw.

Professional day at La Maison Du Whisky #7. Tasted at the fair, quick notes: on the nose and finish, the fruits and olive are very cool, but it stings, a bit too much alcohol/not well integrated I think.

Wow, really special profile! Along with the typical Savanna associations (overripe mango and tropical fruits in general with a lot of acidity), there's an incredibly intense mirabelle/apricot compote note. Quite a lot of power on the palate. For me personally, the aromas are too intense and wild.

20 ml sample, nice, nose: vegetables, olive spread, varnish, acetone, mouth: the olives and warm cooked vegetables are very noticeable, long finish of olives and acetone varnish. Nice but I wouldn't buy a bottle.

The rums from the Savanna distillery are some of my favourites. I recommend everyone to try especially the higher ester pieces like Grand arome or HERR. You haven't smelled so much fruit in a few drops of liquid in a long time.

Really not sure what to make of this at all. It has absolutely incredible sweet aromas of apricot but it finishes with a strange bitter taste that reminds me of pine or the herbal notes in gin. Very acidic. I take a sip, find it slightly off putting but then curiosity brings me back to another. Certainly a very interesting and challenging rum-not an easy sipper (or one that i will particularly enjoy drinking), but it is a rum that makes me marvel thinking about how these flavours came from molasses.
