Sure, the WPL Marque doesn’t hit you with an ester bomb on the nose, but I’m pleasantly surprised. Very round, lots of tropical fruit, mango, papaya, banana, caramel sweetness, nutty, (ice) candy. On the palate tropical fruits, spicy, barrel, slight bitterness that, together with the high ABV (well integrated), carries a long finish. I quite like it!

Blind tasting with the Franconian Tasting Gang. Thanks to Chris2302 for the grasti sample you provided. Very wicked, I honestly didn't think of it. Unfortunately, I lack a little comparison with other bottlings from the distillery. Conclusion: solid

A strong, spicy and woody Worthy Park from the great 2007 vintage of the distillery. All in all a very good rum that somehow fails to bring its full potential to the palate. Many thanks for the sample @Wolfgang Klotz

Blindtasting Worthy Park with: HV WPL (RX272) HV WPM (RX1089) Schotman (RX17173) Wolfgang Klotz (RX21848) TWJ (RX14182) 3rd place (8.4): TWJ. The nose is quite closed and ends up being a bit unbalanced on both the nose and the palate. Slightly bitter on the palate and also on the finish. 2nd place (8.6): HV WPL + WK Spirits. The WK has more wood and spices overall and, with plenty of time in the glass, also more fruity aromas. The HV WPL also needs a little time in the glass, but then has a beautifully complex nose. On the palate, alongside trop. Fruits on the palate as well as subtle glue and esters. 1st place (8.7): HV WPM + Schotman. The Schotman is probably the most rounded WP in crosstasting with a nice peach note. The WPM stands out somewhat with its smoky aromas and licorice. WP has been under my radar so far, wrongly so. I am really positively surprised and will probably have a WP in my glass more often in the future :)

Blind tasting. I was unsure at first on the nose ... molasses or juice? Nose with burnt sugar, some honey and notes of banana with slightly spicy wood. Then more esters on the palate ... hence the thought that it might be WP?

8,6:On the nose, solvents and vegetal molasses, woody notes at first with cinnamon, nuts, burnt sugar, honey and tropical fruits like banana, citrus. On aeration, the molasses is floral and grassy, perhaps with tea, the esters level is low, roastedness brings some caramel. 8,5:On the palate, the attack is spicy and fruity, vegetal with notes like vanilla, pepper, salt from spices, banana, mango, hints of red fruits and citrus from fruits, flowery and herbaceous molasses, honey.The wood is roasted with crème brûlée, burnt sugar, confectionery like fruitcake. 8,4:The finish is quite long, dry and tannic, a bit smoky, there is a note of crunchy bread, nuts and caramel, spices and tropical fruits..

On the nose a very exciting smell. Sea, a bit of ester and light floral notes. Maybe a bit of cinnamon. In the mouth warm, sweet and spicy (pepper) with light ester. Slightly bitter, woody and alcohol I find super integrated. Very nice piece, was really skeptical before but completely convinced.

Nice nose! Very complex and fruity. Unfortunately, I find it a bit mean and alcoholic on the palate and could be better integrated. Overall, I find it a bit too demanding though aromatically good.

A very strong but rather round Worthy Park. Typical profile with some coconut. On the palate then a bit sharper and funky. Extremely strong. Woody, spicy finish. Very good WP! Can easily keep up with the 12-year standard bottling.

Clear Jamaican notes on the nose. However, also with another influence. Haven't had many worthy parks yet... Probably this profile shines through. Quite spicy on the palate.

Surprisingly good Worthy Park! Very intense and full of character on the nose with a solid cask presence, yet balanced. Spices and wood rush forward on the palate, creating a bitter and dry sensation. The finish with a vegetal tea note and some vanilla is familiar from other WPs. Nicely spicy and a bit smoky.

And then let's wait for the 3 from Mr. Klotz ;) First Jamaica, yes the guy has taste. Fermented, overripe fruits, especially banana here. On the palate also some mango, but also sugarcane.

A WP by Wolfgang Klotz. Light clear brown in color. On the nose, over time, exotic fruits with wood and light fresh notes. On the palate, a certain sweetness comes through. Also spice and roastiness. The rum feels too alcoholic and biting for me. Many seem to like it according to the reviews. Not my thing. I'll try the rest of the sample later with cola.

On the nose, super strong notes of tropical fruits, especially mango, banana and some ester. On the palate, wood and peppery notes join in. The fruits linger very long on the finish. Alcohol well integrated and as a low-ester a really good sipper.

Number three from Klotz for today and this is a sneak peek because the release will still take some time. I kindly received a sample. We are greeted here by a load of solvents, even more reminiscent of effervescent powder dissolving nicely (do you hear the bubbles 😉), some tropical fruits pass by and also the banana typical for many WP shows up. The first sip. Somehow a more drinkable low ester Jamaican. The rum brings some sweetness and a nice tropical fruit mix. 61.5%? Where is that? Hardly noticeable. Some spice with plenty of pepper comes in. And in the finish, of course, wood also comes into play but the deep imprint of tropical fruits remains. Great Worthy Park! Good selection!

A low-ester Jamaican that, in my opinion, presents itself much fruitier and more interesting on the nose than on the palate. You smell wood, tropical fruity ester notes, a bit of banana, and the ever-popular bicycle inner tube. On the palate, you then expect an alcoholic note corresponding to the percentage, accompanied by a slightly bitter pepperiness, rubber, leather, and wood. The fruits you smelled before retreat into the background for me and are almost completely overshadowed.

On the nose, it's quite flat at first, the aromas are rather fine and you don't have an ester bomb in front of you, which I find extremely pleasant. On the palate, it develops a slight bitterness that harmonizes very well with the fruit, the fairly high alcohol content is very well integrated and brings a nice punch. Plus slight edges from the barrel influences - fun, you can work with it for a long time!

WPL, so no high ester punch to expect. Very balanced on the nose. On the palate the spicy dry side dominates, but without being bitter. I quite like it. For WP not being one of my favorite distilleries, I still like it quite a bit.

In my opinion, this is a very pleasant Worthy Park. It's quite rounded but otherwise offers nice notes of tropical fruits, spices, and wood, accompanied by esters.
