#5218 09.04.2025 Running some white samples at home while relaxing a bit. Nose Intense, fresh, lightly sweet, light citrus, vegetal, sugarcane, spice. Palate Intense, medium spicy, sugarcane, light citrus, light vegetal, medium dry, light nutts, light floral. Finish Long and warm, balanced, medium spicy, medium dry, light floral, citrus, sugarcane, faint floral. Empty glass Sugarcane, citrus, light floral, light nutts, faint perfume. Needs to rest for a while to really open up.

Tasted at Rhumfest Paris 2026. Tasting a column still brut always brings some apprehension regarding the alcohol degrees. For this cuvée, they are very well integrated and I can fully enjoy the aromatic concentration of a very good agricole. The cane is honored!

Description: The Rhum La Favorite Brut de Colonne 2023 is a white agricole rum AOC Martinique, from the 2023 harvest and distilled without reduction or filtration, thus retaining all its original power. It is produced from pure cane juice (vesou) and distilled in two creole columns at the distillery — one stainless steel and the other copper — before being blended to express a balance between finesse and intensity. This rum is 72.8% alcohol, highlighting its raw and authentic character, intended for lovers of strong and complex spirits. The bottle features a label illustrated by Martinican artist Lucas Vallerie, paying tribute to the master distiller and the artisanal know-how of the distillery. Nose: vegetal, sugar cane, lemon and floral Palate: intense, a big slap in the face I dare say. Not alcoholic beyond the slap. Lemon, sugar cane and floral Finish: long, vegetal, floral and lemon Conclusion: bought at €77.20 at rumstylez. Do I regret buying this bottle? No. Do I plan to get a second one? No, because I already have some brut de colonne and I don't plan to drink it all quickly. Do I recommend it? If you can afford it or want to explore brut de colonnes a bit then yes... (There is the Dillon brut de colonne (intense pepper) and the Neisson, l'esprit (very floral) which are good.) I find the 2022 very similar so if you see a notable value difference, I advise you to take the cheaper one but at equivalent price, still take the 2023 which is slightly above.
