TRC Enmore Guyana REV 1994
Nearly everyone here loves this old Enmore, with one recurring caveat: at 30 years the wood and tannins creep forward, and several tasters rank it just behind the 27- and 29-year TRC siblings. Give it 20-30 minutes and it opens into prunes, dried figs, dark chocolate, leather and tobacco. Oily, warm, "surprisingly fruity for its age," with the 52.1% tucked away neatly.

Summarized by AI from community reviews.
Dark, fruity, wood-driven 30-year Enmore sipper A beautifully balanced old Guyana most people rate highly. The main gripe: a bit more oak, tannin and bitterness than the younger TRC bottlings, and a finish some found short.

Edit Edit: Had another comparison in the larger REV round. For me, a shade behind the 27-year-old from TRC, but a shade ahead of the 29-year-old and the Greenheart. Edit: Tasted again in the small round of the Franconian Tasting Gang, which resulted in the last 3 bottles in the online store going to Franconia again. 😅 First impression: Definitely does NOT fall short in contrast to its predecessors. Can keep up very well. The extra year hasn't done it any harm and it hasn't become too woody, as I feared. The first impression is that it is rounder than its predecessors and dangerously drinkable. I like it in any case.
Review by DomM
I‘m very positively surprised. While I expected it to be too much on the woody side - akin to some of the mor recent REV bottlings, this is very well balanced and fruity. A bit less intense versus some older bottling, but definitely up there in the vintage. In a TRC side-by-side the 30y comes in second place. A bit less power versus the 29y but more elegance and less herbal notes on the finish. Very close call though.
Review by Mirco
Another wonderful 1994 REV from TRC, just like its predecessor. The extra year has not become too bitter. But much longer could become critical. REV typical notes with plum naturally present.

Well, unfortunately it doesn't really knock my socks off. Apart from the fact that the rum has to breathe for a surprisingly long time, I think it has a strange off-note on the palate right at the beginning, while it lacks malt and prunes somewhat later on, contrary to expectations, while herbs and sour wood come to the fore too much. For me, it's unfortunately over the top and brings up the rear of the REV 1994 bottlings to date, although the price is of course unbeatable. Update 2024-10-12 REV 1994 tasting Here is my ranking (nose and palate impressions each contributed 50% to the overall rating, in the event of a tie, the length of the finish was decisive, as was the case with ranks 1-3, which were incredibly close together): 1ST RX12425 2ND RX121 3. RX11107 4. RX21851 5. RX12203 6. 11402 So this rum gets 5 points more from me today. Attention, daily form is not to be underestimated!

8,8:On the nose, the first impression we get is pretty dark, as a wood is roasted with leather, nuts like walnut, burnt sugar, the fruits are dried with dates, raisins, prunes, figs, there is some citrus. The molasses is vegetal, dark with tobacco, black tea and licorice. On aeration, we get notes of soy sauce, umami, maggi, there is some spice, perhaps cola notes and dark berries.Complex, but balanced. 9,1:On the palate, the attack is very pleasant, round with dried fruits like dates, prunes, apricots, figs, the wood is spicy and charred with caramel, Demerara sugar, vanilla, leather, later dark chocolate, umami. The molasses is dark with licorice, black tea, tobacco, after resting it gives us a floral touch and some dark berries arise.Very tasty. 8,7:The finish is long, dry, dark with spicy roasted wood, tannic, some new fruits pop up like red fruits, the molasses becomes earthy, as bit waxy..
Review by crazyforgoodbooze
For me, it has everything I expect from a good 94 REV. Juicy prunes, cinnamon, dark chocolate, strong mocha, light menthol and lavender tones. Hardly any wood influence for 30y aging and a nice creaminess and above all no licorice, but light herbal associations. Extremely round, balanced and complex! And a very fair PLV for the current time with 250€ RRP!

The 30-year-old TRC 94 Enmore REV competes against its (phenomenally) good, 'younger' 29-year-old brother. First impression on the nose: while the 29er immediately delivers mercilessly well, the 30er initially comes across much less. I can't say whether this is due to the 2 percentage points lower ABV or the fact that the sample of the 29-year-old has been open for longer. After 20 minutes, the 30 then opens up more and there are prunes / dried fruit, caramel, tobacco and dried wild herbs. But: it remains the same, the 30 seems somewhat more restrained overall. On the palate, the 30 also has a little more barrel, plus mocha and a subtle, tart note on the finish. In comparison, I also like the 29 a little better on the palate, with more sweetness and fruitiness. The bottom line is that the 29 is slightly ahead of the 30. Nevertheless, the 30 also plays at the top of the 94 Enmore REV league!

The oily mouthfeel, also in the finish, is really cool. Basically classic markers of the profile. These are parallel and harmonize perfectly side by side. Looking forward to trying it in a cross-tasting. Drops in rating in the cross-tasting (2025): Rum Cask 30 Year REV 1994 A bit more closed and sharper on the nose. Notes of cream, heavily toasted bread, almost burnt. The balance falls a bit compared to before, slight bitter notes remain in the finish. Overall feels a bit "dirtier".

Very accessible and surprisingly fruity REV despite its great age. Great bottling at a fair price!
Review by Manuel
Absolutely impressive REV Guyana rum. The color is already very impressive after the long aging. Very oily in the glass. Very intense on the nose and a great explosion of flavors in the mouth. A really very successful rum.
Review by Serge
Wow, extremely fruity for its age. More plum and less wood than expected. Great surprise and ordered another one straight away. Can be picked up without hesitation - especially for the price. Good deal.

RumX Sample Set Premium. Now Olli is really bringing out the good stuff 🙂 But here we have a great Enmore, everything you expect from Guyana, coffee, dark chocolate, and mocha. Top distillery, too bad it no longer exists.

🎁 Sample obtained thanks to RX points. 👃 Wow, what a nose! Very Oloroso/PX, more Oloroso I'd say. Lots of dried fruits, jammy and dark of all kinds (dates, very ripe figs, berries, grapes, prunes, plums). Traditional licorice makes its way and asserts itself, I even find some fresh sap notes. The wood is dark, dense, spicy, leathery and structures all these complex aromas. 😋 Fruity, on a more jammy side. I love the slightly oily texture. We find the same base, plums, dates, figs, grapes, black berries having a blast. The cask is well present too, almost burnt oak with Demerara sugar, forming a sticky molasses mixed with the staves. I also have a nice combination of licorice, dark chocolate, touches of gourmet coffee and cigar leaf. The palate completely echoes the nose, undeniable. ⛳ Very long, comforting, woody, spicy and tannic. It starts with a treat of warm, almost salty licorice that envelops the palate. Over time, I get dry walnut and 90% dark chocolate forming a beautiful harmony. Then, a more herbal sensation develops during the finish, with lovely notes of black tea and candied fruit infusions. 🫗 The empty glass continues to surprise us with subtle notes of puffed bacon, salted licorice, stewed fruits and balsamic cream. 🏅 I really appreciate these Enmore 94 mark REV from the Versailles still even if there was probably coloring. I find many similarities with very good whiskies aged entirely in Oloroso or Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. An excellent malt alternative overall. I didn't mention it, but the integration of the alcohol is remarkable.
Review by Joachim Guger
Very nice, warm nose. Varnish, polish, very spicy. Despite the long aging, the oak is kept in check. Roasty and dark. On the palate then very soft and creamy. Plenty of coffee. Super good finish. Warm, caramel, spices. Over time, the oak comes to the forefront. This was only my second 94 REV. The first was the RA, which I found very good but not outstanding. This one definitely wins me over more. Great rum! Thanks to Bonn for this inspiring sample! 😀😀😀
Review by Basti
The nose is really great and not too heavy. The fruity aromas still come through well and are not overwhelmed by the heavy woody/toasty aromas. Also nicely balanced on the palate with subtle fruit. Nice 94er REV!

#5525 02.08.2025 Running a few samples while watching Bad Boys - Ride or Die. Nose Wood, light roasted, dried fruit, plum, light leather, faint caramel, light chocolate, spice. Palate Wood, light roasted, light tannins, prunes, spice, light chocolate, light leather, light spicy, light dry, light mint. Finish Long and warm, wood, roasted, light tannins, prunes, light chocolate, light dry, light spicy. Empty glass Licorice, chocolate, light vanilla, light leather, light tea.
Review by Chrischi78
After some time this wonderful fellow opens up and then reveals its entire range of aromas. Already on the nose the smell of plums and dried dates and a little wood. And this then comes into its own nicely warm and round. Along with notes of leather. A very slight bitter note in the finish.
Review by Master P
Really intense and tasty REV, exactly my taste. Fruity, bitter notes of tea and chocolate. The age works very well with the wood notes. Subtle finish thanks to very well integrated alcohol. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a bottle. If anyone has one left, please get in touch.
Review by Vincent D
Another superb representative of these old Enmore with a dark profile as desired. Tobacco, leather, pepper, a bit of burnt caramel, dark chocolate, bitterness. Superb. I preferred the Enmore Corman tasted just before. But it's a magnificent rum. Thanks @Oliver for the sample.
Review by Felix Reiber
Incredibly delicious! An insanely good Enmore 1994. The nose is very pleasant. Many dried fruits come forward, dark aromas like dark chocolate, cola, licorice, and dark berries. Then there is this brilliant spiciness of wood, leather, and dark caramel. On the palate, it is extremely complex. The 52% is so incredibly well integrated that you could assume 40-45%. I have dried fruits like dried plum, dried fig, and nice leather and tobacco notes. Dark chocolate, wood, and cask influences follow simultaneously and are replaced by great spices, licorice, and Demerara sugar. Everything is accompanied by a pleasant oiliness. Wonderful body. The long and complex finish shows again dried plum, wood, chocolate, and other dried fruits. Cherry, red fruits, and licorice go into a nice spiciness with herbs, oak, and tannins. I can recommend this absolutely great rum to anyone who already likes rum from Guyana. Thanks for the wonderful sample 😃.

... Enmore - drive distillery, now just a functional distillation device. Probably the only wooden distillation device in the world that enjoys great popularity. Enmore rums have flavors of ash, leather, heavy wood, which especially excite lovers of smoky whiskies. And if the producer adds a bit of molasses to the rum in the traditional Guyanese way, you have a unique, very strong and heavy rum in the bottle. One of my favorites.
Review by TheJackDrop
I wouldn't have thought it so fruity! Prunes up front but also quite a lot of dried fruits, obviously a nice roundness with age, wood in the background without exaggeration. There is also a licorice and port side a bit heavy but well, sometimes it works.

REV tasting of the Franconian Tasting Gang November 2024: In total, five REVs from 1994 were poured, the three bottlings from The Rum Cask, the Nobilis, and Distilia Greenheart. The youngest at 27 years from TRC still delivers the best performance for me, with very nice dried fruit notes on the nose. Its slightly older brothers are a little less fruity but spicier and toastier (I like the 29-year-old a bit more than the 30-year-old). The Nobilis brings the most herbal notes of the five. The Distilia is also nicely fruity on the nose, but quite sweet and a bit thin on the palate.

Zweite Verkostung folgt.
Review by Nivius
In direct comparison to the 27er trc unexpectedly weaker - more herbal, but somehow less intense with a note that is slightly alcoholic. In the 27er, date and plum are much more present - here it just misses 9 points this time.
Review by Righrum
When it comes to REV 1994, It is pretty sure that what is in the bottle is really good. This TRC is not different from the, really high, standard. Dark and concentrated, with demerara sugar, tea tobacco and tea, this is an amazing rum
Review by F.L.O.
Nose and palate are 100% in harmony. Dried fruit and lots of wood, but not too much. It's just right. Give it a good half hour and then it tastes really perfect. The alcohol is perfectly integrated. A beautiful piece.

Review by Johnny Rumcask
Nice Guyana with many dark notes. Despite the long aging, relatively little bitterness. On the contrary, vanilla flavor notes are rather in the foreground, especially at the beginning. Towards the end, a play of bitter, sweet and herbal notes. Alcohol very well integrated, long dry finish. Very good rum, personally the vanilla aromas are too present for a higher rating.
Review by Alexander Rasch
A great rum with high complexity. In the nose incredibly fruity. Lots of red currant jam. On the palate very complex. The rum starts light, almost watery with nice fruit aromas and then becomes heavier and darker on the tongue. That’s fun and really great cinema. Very very good REV 1994. I like it👌

Small REV tasting. All tasted rums have a very dark color due to their high age. RX12203: 9.0 Nose: Dried fruits, not too dry but rather fruity. Also slight lovage and a nice heavy spice. Palate: Some noble wood, nice spice, dried fruits with heavy sweetness. The finish leaves some wood and leather. Really a beautiful drop. RX17202: 9.0 Nose: Slightly more subtle than RX12203. Heavy sweetness and spice. Palate: Also on the palate more wood and spice than RX12203, slightly bitter, the tannins are more present here. In the finish, this beautiful woody-spicy slight bitterness comes to the forefront. At the very end, I find some chestnuts. RX21851: 9.0 Nose: Again more sweetness and fruitiness compared to RX17202. Palate: Here only a subtle fruitiness, the tannins are now even more pronounced but not disturbing. I find slightly burnt caramel. The finish leaves a not unpleasant bitterness and at the very end noble wood. RX25870: 9.1 Nose: Subtle. Light, heavy sweetness. Palate: Wow, really full and directly present. Fruitiness, tannins, spice, burnt caramel, slight bitterness all perceptible side by side and all very harmonious. Only the alcohol is slightly more present than in the other TRCs, but not disturbing. Also very round and balanced in the finish. The oldest TRC REV is for me also the best. RX12425: 9.1 Nose: Quite red-fruity, not too dry. So far the most fruity nose. Palate: Wow, really great and full aroma. Red fruitiness, not too dry, dominates. Tannins and a slight bitterness. Black tea and slightly burnt caramel. Also very round in the finish. Distilia Enmore REV 60.2% (no RX number) 9.1 Nose: Very round with fruit and spices. Palate: Full, direct, intense. Fruit, spices, tannins and wood rather subtle. Endless finish. Awesome stuff.

Smell of plum, dried fruits, warm and promising. Great taste, oily, spicy, dried plum, raisins, not too much wood, caresses the tongue. For me an insanely good rum, too bad I only had a sample and not a whole bottle.
Review by FischeJ
Licorice, leather, dried fruits, herbs on the palate somewhat sweeter. In direct comparison with RX7789 and RX121 less intense, more sweetness, somehow a touch less of everything. Therefore slightly behind the two RAs.

What a beautiful drop to spend a long time with. Dried fruits, plum, raisin combined with the cask influence. On the palate then an explosion of red dried fruits, wood and chocolate. A slight bitterness in the finish. Great rum! Many thanks Manuel for the sample.
Review by 86kringo
Insanely great Enmore! Reminds me on the nose of sweet nut-grape chocolate, nicely integrated alcohol and those dried figs / sultanas with a slight wood smoke - mega delicious!
Review by Tim Reiber
Nice intense Enmore with dark caramel notes, lots of wood and notes of dark red fruits on the nose. Very spicy and oily on the palate. More wood, licorice, dark sugar and tannins clearly come in towards the end. In the long finish, the bitterness of wood, black tea, red fruits and oak is accompanied.
