Savanna HERR Japan Tribute 1 2007
Sip this one neat and slow — at 61.3% it hits hard, but underneath the heat sits a pile of overripe mango, caramel and candied fruit, with chocolate and a bit of smoke and wood on the finish. It's a softer, sweeter take on Savanna's high-ester style than full Grand Arôme. Most found it intense and fruity; a couple felt it ran a touch rough and uneven.

This was my favourite Savanna and rum of the tasting. Nice complexity and lovely balance between the fruit, caramel and spices and you could also get some molasses. I really liked the light smoky feel and wood in this release. Chocolate comes at the end of the palate. Yummy 😊

Color: Orange-brown Odor: Super delicious aromatic ester flavors fill the room. Smells sweet and fruity of fudge, sandalwood and candied fruit. Taste: Initially sweet in the mouth with fudge, but quickly becomes sharp and strong due to its alcohol strength. Extremely strong and spicy when swallowed. Sweet with caramel in the background. Then there are lots of fruity aromas. Finish: Medium length. Fruity and spicy with chocolate and toffee. Also woody. Sweet aftertaste with a pleasant burn. Conclusion: Super tasty. The fruitiness decreases significantly after a longer period of standing.
