Savanna HERR Japan Tribute 1 2007
Best sipped neat and given time in the glass — at 61.3% it turns hot and spicy fast, so a drop of water helps. Expect a big wave of ester fruit: overripe mango in caramel, pineapple, vanilla and a bit of chocolate on the finish. A few tasters catch light smoke and wood too. One member called it a "monster" they fell for.

The look inside the bottle
How does Savanna HERR Japan Tribute 1 2007 taste?
Aggregated from 29 community reviews.
Fruity high-ester Savanna, mango and caramel Most call it a top-tier Savanna — mango, esters and caramel with real depth. A couple find it slightly edgy or too whisky-like, and the fruit fades as it sits.

This was my favourite Savanna and rum of the tasting. Nice complexity and lovely balance between the fruit, caramel and spices and you could also get some molasses. I really liked the light smoky feel and wood in this release. Chocolate comes at the end of the palate. Yummy 😊

Too close to a whisky, too particular, not rum enough...

It was a pleasure to dive back into this monster that had made me fall in love with Savanna during the tasting at friend Dimitri's.
Review by Harald
Color: Orange-brown Odor: Super delicious aromatic ester flavors fill the room. Smells sweet and fruity of fudge, sandalwood and candied fruit. Taste: Initially sweet in the mouth with fudge, but quickly becomes sharp and strong due to its alcohol strength. Extremely strong and spicy when swallowed. Sweet with caramel in the background. Then there are lots of fruity aromas. Finish: Medium length. Fruity and spicy with chocolate and toffee. Also woody. Sweet aftertaste with a pleasant burn. Conclusion: Super tasty. The fruitiness decreases significantly after a longer period of standing.
