Here's the twist: this 12-year Foursquare leans tart, not just sweet. Alongside the usual vanilla, coconut and caramel, several tasters flag a "sour red berries" and pepper note that some found a bit off-profile. At 48% it reads slightly thin on the palate with a short finish, but it's oily, well-rounded and dry-ish. A good everyday Barbados sipper rather than a big event bottle.

Not the best of the series but not the worst either. I'd say that the price at release matched the quality. A well rounded, oily and sweet rum with fruit and light wood with sprinkles of caramel and molasses.

Strange Foursquare ... a little thin on the palate for the alcohol content, but still OK. What I don't like so much is the fruit acidity and a pepper note, which somehow doesn't give me that Foursquare feeling. Or I've got a cold and my palate is deceiving me 😂

Small comparative tasting of RX2192, RX7623 and RX7158. Overall, 7158 lands in first place. All have a very similar profile. All very pleasant. But I can't really identify real quality outliers except for ABV and different intensity...

To my perception a typical Forsquare, especially on the nose. Spicy woody aromas, somehow dusty. On the palate then an interesting note of sour red fruits/berries appears. You can also notice the dilution.

Solid Foursquare with a pleasant, well-chosen drinking strength, rather dry. Unusually intense notes of slightly tart raspberries, vanilla and oak. Little complexity and the mouthfeel is somewhat "thin" and the finish rather short. I would have hoped for more.

As with the ECS line, I find that the single cask line is also not offering many new things, flavors almost always the same or slightly different. Maybe spacing out the releases could be the start of a new direction.

Foursquare is a distillery from Barbados producing amazing rums for everyday sipping. It's a rum especially appreciated by rum lovers who are fed up with sugar and looking for a smooth, sweet rum full of coconut, vanilla, chocolate and caramel. Simply pleasant and not aggressive flavors.
