"Very atypical for agricole but enjoyable" is how one taster put it, and that fits. Reunion cane-juice rum with a well-integrated port finish: dry, spicy, a little salty, with ripe pineapple, strawberry, cherry and dark chocolate over wet cigar-leaf wood. Some find the nose a touch varnishy early on and let it open up. Distinctly Savanna in character.

#4925 Whisky Live in Paris 27.09.2024-30.09.2024. Another great event meeting a lot of RumX new and old friends. This year three weren't as many new releases as in 2023, but I still had a great time. Nose Medium intense, light wood, fruity, light berries, cherry, light vegetal, round. Palate Balanced, oily, round, light wood, light roasted, light spicy, pineapple, light cherry, medium dry, light berries. Finish Long and warm, light wood, light citrus, light strawberry, round, faint earthy, oily. This is a very good release and I had to try it a few times just because that is what you can do at the WL 😊

The nose is clearly on fairly lively, intense esters. You really need time to get used to this not very pleasant nail varnish side, to get past it and smell something else. The nose is very alcoholic, with kirsch markers. There's a hint of port, but it's still quite aggressive. A few vegetal accents complete the picture. Not very good. The palate is just as powerful, with a lot more esters. Fortunately, the varnish fades, but there's a very greasy edge on the tongue. It's oily and intense, with a roasted, smoked meat flavour. The fruit is more present than on the nose. There are also cooking spices (chili, green pepper) and the Port cask comes through, along with cherry. The finish is very long, with light oak and spices.

A rum tasted at Whisky Live in Paris in 2024. A vegetal nose with dry herbs, controlled oak and dried fruit. The palate is full-bodied, with the same aromas and a predominance of dried fruit on the herbal/woody side. Here too, the woodiness is under control. The finish is a little dry, with dried herbs and wood, which is not the best effect and detracts from the note. Otherwise a very good rum.

Have tasted so much delicious Savanna rum and non of it is bad. I have always liked Savanna but 2026 is going to be a great Savanna year for me. 16-07-2026 - Rate 9.0

Delicious savanna in which the port finish is really well integrated without being too dominant. Rather dry, slightly salty, spicy, tart & fruity. Green pepper, olive brine, capers, ripe pineapple and strawberry, dried currants, dark chocolate and dried dates. Delicious experiment but not rocket fuel either.

Notes from Whisky Live Paris 2024 - to be reviewed. A good unshared, as is often the case with this series, a little dry perhaps, but with beautiful fruit all the same, and a "savannah" woodiness I'd say that always pleases me.

This Unshared France 2024 is not a profile I particularly like from Savanna. I find it overall too dry and lacking roundness. On the nose, it’s quite unexpressive in terms of perceived aromatic richness. The profile is dominated by dry and vegetal notes, accompanied by a slight woodiness, which stays more in the background behind the previous aromas. Despite this relatively limited aromatic expression, the notes present are still quite intense. On the palate, the attack is straightforward and dry. Dried fruits take an important place, accompanied by a very peppery, even spicy character, which brings a certain liveliness to the whole. The finish, of medium length, remains rather dry. It extends the notes of dried fruits and young wood aromas.

The rums from the Savanna distillery are some of my favourites. I recommend everyone to try especially the higher ester pieces like Grand arome or HERR. You haven't felt so much fruit in a few little drops of liquid for a long time.

After 20 minutes aeration (forgot my glasses after setting my serie, it happens) Nose : Vegetal, eucalyptus but also tons of fruit (tropical fruits and apple), light floral, waxy undertones Taste : Wood, some olive brine, still vegetal but not too overpowering, the fruits are also quite intense, spicy dry, peppery Finale: Short to medium, zesty, wood and black tea I like this one, very atypical for agricole but enjoyable

Really nice, a bit straightforward, monolithic. A touch of wet cigar leaf that's really trippy (I said saumurébau at first, but that's not it). The nose is a bit like someone who's just waxed the massive stairs of the 8. Long on the palate, held together by the alcohol. Black cherry finish (aymeric). On the tongue, you know it's lagri (that thing on the side of the tongue). Integration not completely successful. But it's okay.

Nose quite light, rather gourmand but discreet. Alcohol very well integrated. With time becomes more vegetal and fermentative. A bit of brine and a green olive. Round palate, very soft and progressive attack, alcohol very good. The port arrives at the end of the palate and evolves towards a more vegetal and fermentative side (clairin, grogue). Medium long finish, with a bit of chocolate going from milk to dark and ends on a slight bitterness of black tea. Solid and successful ensemble, but overall more classic than one might have expected.
