#7263 09.09.2026 Relaxing with a few samples after starting the day with a migraine. Finally it has gone down to a regular headache. Listening to some new Trance tracks on Spotify. Pretty decent bottling with a good initial price tag in my mind. Well rounded profile with honey, fruits, grass, sugarcane, spice, chocolate, roasted wood, caramel and light salt.

Here number 9 from the La Route des Rhums advent calendar. Sugarcane is very clearly recognizable on the nose. Also slightly peppery. On the palate also sugarcane and pepper, as well as some wood and agricole.

The Longueteau Souvenir La tradition rum is an easy-to-drink rum. The nose is very honeyed, sweet and candied fruits. On the palate you feel a bit more character with woody and spicy notes. The rather short finish presents sweet notes.

The nose is indulgent: cane, candied fruits, with a peppery touch but still discreet. On the palate, it lacks expression, continuing the nose with the pepper more present. The finish is interesting and takes a little time to settle, but once the taste buds are soaked, a pleasant cane flavor and a touch of cooked banana. It feels like the cask didn't have time to deliver all its aromas in this batch.

A rather young agricole rum, slightly woody on the nose and also on the palate. A little peppery/spicy side as well. The alcohol is not too badly integrated for a 3-year-old. It should be left to rest a bit to be better.

Tasted at the Saint Jacques cellar in a masterclass in Tournai. Pleasant but uninteresting; it's flat and boring.

The nose is very discreet and slow to express very light floral and spicy notes, a hint of wood. The palate is of the same vein, more on spices, and finishes with a bit of alcohol for a medium length. A rum too discreet for me, very easy and very soft for sure, but I find it uninteresting at my level. So we'll see for pairing, I'll also try lemon and sugar, but not as a tasting rum. It has the advantage of not being aggressive for only 3 years at 45. Tasted again blind before 2024: 7.2 but still quite average. Balanced but lacks intensity and complexity. The nose gave me a better impression, fruity on citrus. Palate on honey and spices, length on spices.

The nose is interesting and promising but the rest I feel is too green for it to express itself more. It has potential but it clearly deserved to be aged a bit longer to express more character and complexity in the flavors.
