06.12.2024 The liquid History of Puerto Rico Tasting First of all, many thanks to Artur for the extreme effort and for sharing such old rums at all. The rums themselves were not really spectacular except for a few exceptions, BUT I still really liked it because normal mortals don't get to taste such rums anymore and all the background knowledge Artur shared is insanely interesting. I really tip my hat to that. Big respect!

The liquid History of Puerto Rico Tasting Nr. 10 - "gepanschter" Rum. Kein Fan davon. Ihm fehlt einfach alles was man sonst im Rum sucht. Bildet wohl genau das ab, was man in billigen all-inclusive Hotels bekommt

Tasting of Puerto Rico rums by Artur. A nose of candy, plum alcohol, fermented vegetal and citrus. The palate is diluted, alcoholic, acidic and the fruits struggle to appear. The finish is short but some fruits remain, orange and plum.

Puerto Rico Set Nr. 10: Some wood and caramel on the nose. A hint of nutty notes but rather bleak overall with not much character. A bit more pleasant on the palate. Very suttle fruity notes. Still pretty thin and unexpressive, however. Cheers to Artur for curating this set!

Clearly more acidity than the predecessors, which results in slight deductions in the rating. Overall also noticeably flatter and more one-dimensional in direct comparison. The predecessors from the 70s/80s are clearly better.

Artur's Puerto Rico tasting, thanks for the great overview and history :-) A series of DonQs evolving over decades, starting from the 50s compared to the current release. Surprisingly, the newest is also the best, clearly fruitier and more intense at a good price. Exciting!
