Plum and red-wine notes lead here — the Saint Estèphe wine-cask finish shows clearly, with wood and leather sitting underneath the fruit. At 50.6% it's got some backbone but stays approachable. Several tasters call it fruity and a little unusual; one wasn't sure if he liked it, then decided the oddness worked in its favor. A well-made Barbados that goes its own way.

I like the next Planteray a bit better. This time Barbados, so very fruity Haigerloch nose, plum is recognizable. On the palate also very fruity, but a bit of cask and wine can also be detected.

Next up is the Planteray Single Cask from Barbados. On the nose, it smells relatively fruity but also a little like wood and leather. The taste is quite solid, with a little fruit coming to the fore. Quite solid

I expected more boredom, but this smells interesting. Maybe it's because of the finish, as it slightly hints at yeast with vinegar, but fruitiness with some candy and wine prevails. The taste is also quite strange, I actually don't know if I like it or not. That weird otherness is ultimately more of a good thing for me.
