The rye whisky cask is the twist here — grain and a whiff of whisky sit right next to the fruit, which you don't expect from a Paraguayan rum. The nose is gentle and fruity, the palate carries raisin, a touch of chocolate and an unexpectedly sweet finish. Easy to drink, but a couple of tasters wish the added sugar had been left out.

Then there's a Planteray from Paraguay today. I quite like the fruity nose, but the aroma is very subtle. The taste is also fruity with a hint of chocolate and raisins. Very good to drink

Delicate fruity aroma with a hint of whisky. With the first sip, I wonder why they put sweetener in it. It's a shame. It could have been a plain but fine rum. As it is, it's a plain and unnecessarily sweet rum.
