The umeshu (Japanese plum wine) cask is what makes this odd and worth trying: plum and dark jam sit next to coffee, cocoa and a little tobacco, with a salty-sour tang from the ume finish that keeps it from turning sweet. Great experiment with the umeshu finish! Notes of coffee beans, dark chocolate and some tobacco remain from the Fiji rum, which is complemented by juicy, salty and sour notes from the ume sake cask. A successful experiment and not too sweet.

Drank at Daniels in Lucerne, unfortunately consumed a bit too warm, making it a bit too rich. Otherwise a pretty good sipper, easy to drink, but for the price of almost 80 francs, it's not enough. Planteray has better rums on offer. (08/26)

Phew, that's how the Planteray day ends today. Another rum for me with a delicious coffee note :-) Also plum and dark chocolate on the nose. On the palate then some oak as well as slightly peppery and salty. Solid rum.

On The Rocks: On the nose it is subtle and rounded with brown sugar, currents, mild oak and plum. Taste reveals plum, spices, oak and dark jam that is well rounded and unique. Warm, confort, cacao, coco, chocolate, are we in Barbados territory ? Then the umeshu dries your mouth as when you eat a plum that is not ripe enough.
