I have two exciting rums in my glass today: this one and, for comparison, RX8199, better known as Vidya the River Mumma. There is hardly any difference in color, the Vagabond is perhaps a touch darker. Nose: very similar to the River Mumma but more subtle and much less intense. Also more emphasis on fruit and less glue and nail polish. The dilution is noticeable in direct comparison and therefore the Vagabond is not as funky. Palate: fruit, esters, olives,... River Mumma with the handbrake on. This is not meant to be derogatory and mainly relates to the alcohol and funk. A bitter note and a dry/salty mouthfeel are noticeable. I also find the bitter/salty note in the River Mumma - but more intense. Finish: the bitter/dry note disappears and gives way to sweet, ripe tropical fruit, which lingers for a very long time. Excellent New Yarmouth, full broadside Jamaica, more accessible, more drinkable and less edgy than RX8199. The dilution is noticeable in direct comparison but the profile is very similar. I particularly like the fact that the fruit is more in the foreground. I rated the River Mumma 9.1, this one is no worse and no better, it just has a different effect because of the dilution, also 9.1

Gefällt mir sehr gut. Sehr harmonisch.

Superbe. Belle longueur. Un superbe rhum. Magnifique.

8,5:On the nose, the first impression we get are esters, overripe tropical fruits like pineapple, roasted, spicy wood with pastry, cookie dough, there is citrus, some solvents. A molasses is vegetal after airing the rum, as there are notes of vinegar and coconut. 8,7:On the palate, the attack is very tasty with very ripe, estery tropical fruits like pineapple, banana, kiwi, some citrus, later toasted coconut. We might think of tasting some marmelade, perhaps fruitcake. Some dried figs and prunes add to that feeling.Strong honey balances salty, spicy notes, as the wood is roasted with nuts, pastry. The molasses is floral with an elderflower and vegetal with an olive. 8,5:The finish is long, dry with notes from the palate lingering on, just a bit more vinegar tannic, imbalancing the impression in the end and earthy.

Beautifully creamy and harmonious. Compared to the previous bottlings I have had from this vintage, it is less intense due to the reduced ABV. The citrus notes are much more subtle but delicious. The balance is wonderful. The bottling does nothing wrong, very tasty.

Delicious New Yarmouth ... very sweet on the nose and palate. There is a pleasant bitter note on the palate, as well as some saltiness and decadent cookies. A nice counter note to the sweetness. Alcohol is very well integrated.

This is a good solid New Yarmouth. The slight dilution suits it well. While the nose still has clear fruit aromas, they are only fleetingly perceptible on the palate. The sweetness with young wood and a little olive predominates. The alcohol is perfectly integrated. Beautiful sipper

Don't expect as full-bodied a flavour as the 1994s, I'd liken it more to a Hampden, but the esters and coconut are there. I'm satisfied
Review by Jacques etdom
A typical New Yarmouth nose of fruit, esters and sweetness. In the mouth, it's intense and full-bodied. Unfortunately, from the finish to the long aftertaste, a harshness and bitterness clearly mark the palate. It's a shame. At this price, I'm disappointed.
