I really like the nose, which is top-notch, but the lack of pep and power doesn't help the palate. But for fans of sweeter rums, there's something for everyone. The finish is moderately long, which is pleasant.

Intense nose. Glue at the beginning, then fruit, banana. Vanilla and wood are present as well as honey. After spending time in the air also tobacco. Spicy attack with barrel notes as well as sugar cane. Intense, mild and dry. A medium-long, spicy finish ends with light honey notes. More exciting on the nose than on the palate. Much more adult and less fruity than the VO. More adult than the VO.

Aging cane juice rum is tricky. Over aging results in rum that tastes too much like wood and not enough like rum. That's what this is. Though it's not as unpleasant as the Neisson Vieux, it's not something I'll ever rebuy.
