Bought and tasted this 3yo Agricole in Spain. The history of Rhum Bologne goes back to the 1650’s when the Bologne family started growing sugar cane on Basse-Terre in Guadeloupe, but the rum production started up at first during 1887 which also is the name of one of their releases. The current owners, the Sargenton-Callard family, took over in 1930 and today the fourth generation running the business. This rum is of course cane juice based, distilled in their column still and aged for a minimum of 3 years in French oak barrels. The nose is fruity, spicy, woody and mineral with scents of mango, passion fruit, apple, pineapple, blackberries, salt, pepper and cinnamon. At the palate it’s fruity, woody, nutty and spicy with flavors of apple, peach, plums, mango, pineapple, burnt wood, walnuts, pepper, salt and ginger. The finish is medium long.
