Smell: First impression: Fruity, subtle vanilla. Light earthy and woody notes as well as caramel mix in. Taste: A tingling peppery sweetness settles on the tongue. Brown sugar and honey can be detected. A pleasant mouthfeel (balanced, velvety). Notes of oak and raisins join in. Finish: Sweet and warm, raisiny. A slight peppery tingling in the throat. All in all a very good rum. The price-performance ratio could be better due to the somewhat too high price.

#5001 27.12.2024 Enjoying a few samples at home while watching Harry Potter Baking Competition. Nose Wood, light roasted, spice, light caramel, dried fruits, light orange, light herbs. Palate Sweet, wood, light roasted, light caramel, faint chocolate, dried fruit, light tannins, faint banana, light herbs. Finish Medium long, wood, dried fruit, light orange, light tannins, light citrus, faint grass. The empty glass has vanilla, light grass, chocolate and light honey.

Initially very fruity with vanilla, as it progresses the sweetness subsides in favor of some white pepper. Quite a long finish with a little oak and well-balanced alcohol.

This rum opens with a rich sweetness of honey and crème brûlée, delivering a smooth, dessert-like warmth on the palate. The finish reveals notes of pipe tobacco and a subtle kick of black pepper, adding depth and a gently spicy edge. This is pure perfection!

A beautiful rum. A little strong on the palate at first, but this may be due to the 45%.

On the nose, the light note of citrus fruit and freshness is pleasing. Otherwise mild caramel and toffee notes. Wood remains far in the background. The change from the fruity start to a peppery mid-palate, followed by something metallic, is exciting. The honey is then clearly present in the finish. A multi-faceted, fresh, fruity representative of the Zacapa family.
