The surprise here is how a sweet-wine cask tames a full DOK Hampden without smothering it. Expect the ester punch you'd expect — glue, nail polish, overripe banana and pineapple — but the Pajarete finish folds in red fruit, dried fig and a burnt-sugar sweetness that rounds the edges. Several tasters call it young but well-built, with the 60% barely showing. Loud, but not clumsy.

Edit: Tasted again with DomM in peace and corrected a little upwards Tasted briefly when sampling, if I remember correctly Fabi said as a description that it is a rum on steroids. To be honest, I would agree with that. Hats off, it tastes great. Compliments Fabi. I'll have another look at your doc in more detail soon

Foreword: I'm not a fan of sherry cask aging in rum. For me the combination just doesn't work, same here. Great DOK, but for me it doesn't gain from the sherry. Still a great product, alcohol well integrated and the beautiful Hampden esters are all there. Personally, I would have preferred the pure DOK.

I was one of the first to try this great rum. A really great ester bomb, Fabi knows what he's doing, a great guy. In any case, a really great Jamaican. A recommendation goes out for this DOK.

8,7:On the nose, the first impression is quite strong with esters, funky, with nail polish, tropical fruits like pineapple, red fruits, banana, mango, as a wood is roasted with burnt sugar, pastry. On aeration, a molasses is vegetal, the wood spicy and nutty with an almond. 8,7:On the palate, the attack is estery, strong with glue, fermented tropical fruits like pineapple, banana, dried fruits like figs, raisins, prunes, as it gives us a feeling of tasting a marmelade or a sweet wine, the wood is roasted, spicy with burnt sugar, pastry, the molasses is vegetal.Some citrus, cherry pop after a nice rest. 8,6:The finish is long, dry, with esters, tropical and dried fruits, tasty cherry, the molasses is waxy, medicinal notes like varnish, rubber and roasted wood... Very powerful on the nose. Full DOK madness in your face - as you would expect. The finish adds some red fruits without overpowering the base Hampden. Even more power on the palate. Again the finish adds to the profile without overpowering. I like this much more than the very intense finishes from SBS for some of their recent-ish DOK releases. Very well executed. More fruits and a hint of additional sweetness adds to the straight forward DOK.

Very cool Hampden! The label says it all here and I happened to catch another Hampden with a finish and again it's a success! Lots of esters, totally funky, astringent on the palate, which is broken up a little by the sweetness.

Really good, young, and delicious DOK. Nose: Packed with esters, marzipan, overripe fruits, glue, banana, and mango. Palate: Explosive esters again, with glue, marzipan, overripe fruits, and pineapple. The alcohol is very well integrated, and the barrel influence is subtle with only light woody notes detectable. Finish: Long, flavorful, and thoroughly enjoyable.

It's nice how the sweet wine barrel adds something to the DOK here and makes it more accessible, but at the same time doesn't destroy or spoil it, as is often the case nowadays. On the contrary ... harmonious in the nose and mouth with an interesting fruit add-on in the finish. Super Fabi. We're already looking forward to the next bottling.

Very tasty DOK so much in advance... Not quite as biting and brutal as some others, but a little more accessible and with some woodiness. I like it very much. In Mai Tai is also very good ... Price is good in my eyes.

#7127 05.08.2026 Relaxing with a few samples while watching a TV Series called Lake Erie Murders. A very good DOK with a super price tag in my mind. Intense profile with overripe fruits, spice, glue, solvents, honey, caramel and some roasted wood.

Latest creation from the honeybatcher and this time esters are tamed. This young rum manages that surprisingly well. The sweet wine cask absorbs the high ester content surprisingly well. Of course, you should like such high marks because they can't and shouldn't be completely hidden.

Dirk Becker praised it so much, now here I come, little guy: On the nose rather inconspicuous, not even immediately identifiable as Hampden. The young lad then comes very pleasing and really complex on the palate with an ultra-long finish. The expected notes from the paint shop are quite subtle in the background. Instead, a fine sweetness and intense woody, spicy notes. You can taste the sweet wine and then notes of brown caramelized sugar. Really exciting, very well done DOK and not such a wild pony as you would expect at that age. Dirk Becker was right, of course!

On the nose:Esters, tropical fruits, glue and nail polish really nicely integrated together. Somekind of pastry as sweet note. Little bit of red fruits. Taste: Overripe tropical fruits, light esters notes. Sweeter pastry note balances the profile. Then you get little bit of spices and little bit of sherry notes and raisins. Again, the integration of notes is very on this one and also the integration of alcohol is also very good. Finish: Esters, overripe pineapples, acidic, light mango notes. Light roasted notes. Slightly dryish finish. The Pajarette sweet wine cask finish works really well in this rum. It doesn't overtake the rum at all and it gives the heavy DOK mark rum more rounder palate. I have to put this to my wanted -list and i can recommend this rum.

Really good DOK with an exciting finish in Spanish Pajarete sweet wine barrels previously unknown to me. These subtly remind me of sherry or muscatel but the barrel finish is nowhere near as dominant as sherry would be. Dry fig and slightly nutty notes from the barrel subtly complement the DOK and soften it slightly. A successful experiment, chapeau Fabi! So far probably the best short-aged DOK with a finish where the finish doesn't destroy the rum but only accompanies and rounds it off. Just as it should be.

A bit closed on the nose, but great mouthfeel. Astringent, fermented fruits, light wood and nice balance. You hardly notice the 60%. Great mixer, but you can also drink it as is. Like it better than the HDGDL in direct comparison.

The nose is slightly biting alcoholic, besides the ester the finish also comes through clearly, alongside slightly burnt caramel. On the tongue, you first get the light sweetness of the finish, then the ester inflates in the cheeks - sensational! At the back of the palate come red fruits, burnt sugar with slightly bitter hints, which fits perfectly.

Brutal nose, at the same time fruity and inviting. On the palate then the full ester firepower, quite young, but well embedded in the sweetness and fruitiness of the Pajarete cask. This is a rum that really gives it gas. For me personally it is a bit too impetuous, but for what it is, it does its job very well. Therefore my recommendation. Also certainly very exciting as a mixer.

Here is the Honeybatcher. Rarely have I had such a complex rum on the nose, just for that it's worth it.. Banana is very dominant here. Also delicious in taste and you hardly taste the 60 percent. Very intense on the palate.

I was skeptical because of the sweet wine finish, but was proven wrong! This ester bomb becomes even a bit more complex, interesting, and accessible because of it. In my opinion, the suspended particles from the cask in the sample fit perfectly into the overall picture, very authentic! Unless Zabo identified a Cuban in it and that's where the sediment comes from...

Insanely intense representative even for a DOK. Regarding intensity a 12 out of 10. Personally I prefer bourbon casks a bit more. But that’s complaining on a very high level. Awesome stuff!

A very noticeably young DOK, but the finish shows itself and tames the funk a bit. Alcohol is well integrated, overall a nice relatively accessible rum. But I wouldn't spend huge sums for it on the secondary market.

Hits you hard right away, but unfortunately fades pretty quickly. Then you wonder, what was that just now? You feel a bit overwhelmed. Intense here doesn’t mean complex, just a lot of it! Still tasty though…
