Had a great Plantation tasting experience yesterday and here is the first one of the six we had a go at. Though the nose was really pleasant there is something missing on the palate. Still a very good rum though and up to Plantation par. A bit too light in my mind and a bit higher proof would have suited it I think. Price to quality is pretty good.

A quite decent rum with fruity roasted notes. Chocolate and vanilla show up on the palate. The finish is too alcoholic for me. Not my favorite from the Plantation range. Taste-wise it reminds me a bit of Jamaica rum.

Once again a Plantation :) A slightly sweet note, tastes caramel and chocolatey to me. A normal average Plantation that you can definitely drink neat. This rum is quite okay.

My RumRatings review from 6 years ago: On the nose, this Plantation isn’t intrusive. Bourbon notes like vanilla and wood are present. There’s a bit of sharpness too. After swirling it once, I let the rum sit for about 10 minutes. The sharpness lessens. Fruity light notes become noticeable as well. On the tongue, this rum is immediately present. Wood blends with caramel. There’s a slight sweetness. But the rum is more spicy, woody with smoky notes. The finish is sharp and direct. Just before it gets unpleasant, it balances the woody smoky note with the sharpness. The aftertaste isn’t intense but noticeable. Spicy cask notes linger. Actually, there’s some pepper and licorice detectable here. The pepper is more pronounced. This Plantation from Peru is a good rum for just under 40 euros with a very distinct character. But it won’t please everyone, especially if you like it sweet and mild.
