Nice and intense nose. Unfortunately a little thin on the palate with more intense finish. All in all a solid bottling from 1997.

Tasted in smokers bar, so perhaps not quite accurate. Does not seem like a typical Caroni, aromas are too restrained for that. Nose clearly beats palate, so palate does not keep what the nose promises of decreasing turpentine and increasing raisin sweetness, but is different, rather a bit dull and musty. Perhaps the half-empty bottle has also stood too long in the bar. Overall: Yes, you can do well and happy on a relaxed evening in a cozy pub, solid, but leaves no Caroni euphoria.
