Review by Julien Ries
The nose starts with lots of esters (Lrok is between 200 and 400g/hL alcohol), with a slightly pheasant-like roast meat that's less repulsive than its expression on this commentary. There's also a hint of very ripe exotic fruit (roasted pineapple) mixed with heady flowers (narcissus, jasmine). The cooked wine adds a great deal to this nose. On the palate, we're still struck by the roast, but the alcohol is very mild, despite 60°. The sherry brings great balance to this juice. Everything is complex, and each moment brings a different layer of aromas. There's fruitiness (lots of it), vanilla and other spices like anise (lots of it). It's greedy and harmonious. The finish is endless with spices and esters.

Sorry about that, but I don't like this bottling at all, it immediately reminded me of the Habitation Velier Hampden LROK ex-sherry cask RX21809. Which I also found subterranean. Somehow the two have quite a lot in common and I really don't like either of them. Mediocre but not my taste at all.

Hampden Tasting, Rum No. 3. I had expected typical Hampden in the glass and was completely (positively) surprised by the RX9242. Here comes the next positive surprise. Not much of the Hampden and funky Jamaica remains in this rum, or is subtly pushed into the background. Raisins, chocolate and dark fruits, especially sour cherries, dominate here. Very sweet with a lot of barrel influence. The alcohol is very well integrated. Very tasty, but a little too sweet for me to give it a higher rating.

Tropical notes, esters. More in the direction of Teca. Very unusual for a Hampden!
Review by Schnubbii

A very unusual Hampden. Red fruits (especially cherries) permeate the aroma and taste, of course there are classic Jamaican esters, but they are only in the background. Chocolate also appears, as well as wood, and the alcohol is very well integrated. I recommend a taste, you will be surprised.

Very interesting. Meaty, a little eucalyptus or smoke. Strikes a balance between TECA and Hampden. I quite like it, but I wouldn't have recognized it blind. But it would be nothing for a whole bottle. Alcohol very well integrated
