One taster called it an "ester and fruit massacre," and that's about right. The nose is all glue, solvent and overripe tropical fruit — pineapple, mango, guava. The palate turns finer than you'd expect: banana, marzipan and brioche over young oak, a sour-citrus streak, then a long, dry, slightly tannic finish. Loud but balanced, and several people found the 63.8% surprisingly well tucked in.

Really good bottling from Swell . Nose : Marzipan, annas, mango banana and strong esters (solvent glue etc) Great buttery notes. Slight woody notes Palate Also here great fruity with strong ester ...slightly buttery and some marzipan. What I particularly like: hardly any bitter notes. In May Tai 4/5 and therefore very good 😎

Wow, what a slap in the face! The esters are obviously present, but above all the glue is very nice and pleasant. It remains 50/50 with the fruit, notably guava and mango. Very long finish, well-integrated alcohol... nothing to complain about. Bottle purchased :D

🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 What a bomb!!! A really great Hampden from Swell. I am absolutely thrilled. A real fruit bomb with the typical, but here rather in the background, ester notes. A little wood, alcohol perfectly integrated. Thinking about canceling the split and keeping both bottles 😉🫠. Guys, be happy. A 2007 C<>H that I would love to try as a tropical maturation, but apparently it doesn't exist.

Das ist ein Hampden wie ich ihn mag. Er erinnert mich stark an die 2007er Kill Devil-Abfüllungen. Dieser ist nur nicht ganz so brachial, obwohl auch er sehr kräftig daherkommt. Ein Einsteiger wäre vermutlich auch schon hier überfordert, ob der doch deutlichen Ester. Mir gefällt er sehr gut!

#6739 03.05.2026 Enjoying a few more samples while watching Gold Rush on Max. This is a very good rum and the price tag is extremely good compared to what you get. A very well balanced rum with an intense and fruity profile and some nice marzipan and utts.

A delicious bottling. The esters and notes of glue are already screaming on the nose. Not quite typical on the palate: an astonishing amount of marzipan, plus grapefruit, lemon and herbal notes. It even becomes slightly salty and fruity-bitter towards the finish. A not entirely typical high-ester Hampden and a great cask selection from Swell.

Oh wow, I really didn't expect that you could still bottle such a delicious 2007 at this time. The bar is set very high when you think of the somewhat older releases from FRC or Kill Devil. But this one can fully keep up.

Just one of many high-quality rums in the rum-specialized bar "Vesou" in HCMC, Vietnam. They guard this bottle like their apple of the eye because of its rarity, but a dram should be had as long as the bottle isn't empty yet. I hadn't had this rum in my glass before and (also considering the price of almost 38 EUR for 2 cl) I spent the whole evening savoring this magnificent bottling and can warmly recommend both the rum and the bar with its competent staff. If this were a tropical aged Hampden, it would certainly have set new standards.

A Hampden continental with a strong character. The nose is very intense and funky as desired with esters and solvents, the overripe tropical fruits just behind offering a delicious aromatic bouquet. The buttery and pastry side (almond paste) brings a nice dose of indulgence to this rich and generous Hampden. The punch also comes in the mouth with a powerful esterified and metallic facet, but it is the incredible roundness of the profile that makes all the difference. Indulgence is key with almond paste, brioche and butter. The profile is very fruity: from exotic fruits (banana, pineapple, mango), to citrus (lime) and tangy notes of green apple. The young wood, slightly spicy, adds another dimension to this varied and expressive profile. The alcohol is superbly well integrated. The finish is very long, persistent on tannins, mineral notes (salt) and esters. The spices are a bit more pronounced and accentuate the dry and astringent side. The tropical fruits and citrus ensure the profile remains tasty. A superb high-level bottling accessible at a more than reasonable price, a real success.

Nose with lots of ester and glue power. Pleasantly sweet and beautifully fruity. Powerful taste of yellow fruits, marzipan and varnish. A little wood and honey sweetness at the back. I find it a little rough in the finish and very warming in the throat. For me, the alcohol is not perfectly integrated. But it's a nice thing

A really good one - funky nose but slightly « mono profile » on the Esthers and glue. The taste is very pleasant and complete - with a strong Hampden profile. Nice (and long!) aftertaste. Strongly recommended

The nose can be puzzling (you probably have to let it open up) but in the mouth what an explosion. It can claim the rank of my favorite rum. To re-taste very soon. First nose aggressive, "vinegar" at opening. A bit of waiting, more like model glue. After a good quarter of an hour, glue, funk and fruit, very pleasant. In the mouth it's incredible. Fruit fruit fruit. A hint of acidity. A bit of funk. What a success! The length is there, complex, with fruit that remains. Mango? Second tasting in line with the first. On the nose "salt & vinegar". Tasted after on tour 8 and eastern tale 2 - this one is by far my favorite.

Une explosion de fruits du début à la fin. Je suis agréablement surpris ! Le nez est très agréable, très fruité, boisé et floral. Ça promet pour la suite... La bouche est complexe, envahie par des notes d'ananas, de fruits exotiques, de la colle Cleópatre, du bois, des épices, un alcool bien intégré et les esters qui sont au rendez-vous, pour sublimé le tout. Une finale moyenne/longue fruitée, beurrée, boisée et la bouche qui en redemande. Un vrai plaisir cette cuvée Swell de Spirits / Bar 1802!!!

Very nice bottling, I'm totally won over 😍😍 very nice length and alcohol, very well integrated.

First impression, try again. Nose exhibits pineapple, varnish and redcurrant jam. The palate is much finer, balanced and elegant, bordering on buttery with very controlled alcohol. Finish a little short compared with the promise of the rest, but very pleasant.

Amazing Hampden, pineapple bomb but still very sweet, with a noticeable depth that doesn't always show up with ester bombs. Love it. Edit: getting back to it much later, I detect an acidity I didn't have back then, all the morel very enjoyable.

Quite a typical, intense nose. Exotic fruit plays off glue and esters. It perfumes the room. The palate is as magnificent as the nose. It confirms the markers detected. A little marzipan, slight acidity and toastiness add to the party. Very well-integrated alcohol. Medium-long finish. Damn, it's good!

As you might expect: very fruity with a strong lactic fermentation and solvent/medicinal note. Here, it's rather well-rounded for this type of profile. Clearly, the cask didn't add much here, which is inherent to this type of rum.

Yeah, this is a Hampden 2007 :) There is no doubt about that. In the spectrum of HD 2007 bottlings, this is quite an elegant rum. Of course it has all the bold flavours, high esters and what not but it does not go overboard on any part of the profile. This stuff smells amazing with lots of tropical fruits like pineapple and papaya. The taste adds a woody and dry profile too it. There is also a sour note that balances the whole profile nicely. The finish is of course looooong! And overall, dare I say it again, quite elegant. Impressive stuff!

Very nice 1802 vintage, a beautiful 17-year-old Hampden for ester lovers, we are right in the middle. Nice balance on the palate between fruit notes and well-present esters, alcohol is well integrated. Beautiful harmony.

Magnificent rum, very cliché on the nose, like a Jamaican with a high ester content but which takes on a whole other dimension on the palate with always these exotic fruits to which you add butter, cooking, caramelization and a long length. Come taste it at 1802, that's where you buy the bottles, the guys are top and even have a daiquiri with this rum if you want to remember it all your life.

Ester and fruit massacre. When opened it fills the air with typical esters and glue. Banana, marcipan, pineapple. Impressive. Palate is more sophisticated, still some glue and esters, nice fruits, grapefruits and mango, some marzipan, spicy, very good rum.
