Olive and briny sugarcane hit the nose first, joined by lemon, pear and a light petrol streak — a Sicilian pot-still cane spirit that sits somewhere between agricole and clairin. One taster found it "surprisingly creamy and sweet on the palate" after that waxy, salty nose. Floral, fennel and citrus run through an oily body. Unusual, and most who tried it call it exactly that.

Pure tasting: The purple sugar cane displaces the yellow here altogether. Pear, brine, fennel and aniseed... Primarily herbal and the fruitiness is somewhat lost. A slightly disturbing petrol note here too. Alcohol but well integrated. Ti Punch: also delicious but somewhat less balanced in my opinion than the single sugar cane varieties. Could be the form of the day but today I like the Lilane Canne Violette the best and the blend the least!

A real little bomb of flowers, olives and aniseed that really makes an impact! A unique rum. Notes from the blog : Opening the bottle: the scent of sugar cane and olive invades the living room within seconds. It smells good, it's very aromatic, in the kind of way that saturates the nose a little quickly, so we take it easy. A few metallic notes perhaps, and hints of... daffodils? I'm not sure about that. Warning: the bottle is very sexy, but the first glass is not easy to serve cleanly, so be careful! On the nose: it's clearly a pure juice, well typed, racy, the olive and brine are present, as are the big lemon/orange notes, and a saline side (which will become more pronounced on the palate). This blend is not to be sneezed at, so I wonder what the violet cane does on its own! I really like it, it seems to be halfway between Clairin and Agricole. In the mouth: the orange (a little salty, like in a duck à l'orange) is still there, perhaps the blackcurrant too. There's also a pronounced vegetal side, tending a little towards licorice perhaps, or aniseed - I'm still struggling to tell the difference between the two. The texture is oily, but not too greasy, pleasant. The 52.5% is there, without forcing it (it's a little more present on the nose, perhaps). Finish: long, alternating between vegetal and citrus notes.
