First of all, many thanks to crazyforgoodbooze for providing the bottles free of charge. As for the rum itself, I have to say that it's not really a winner when tasted neat, although as a mixer it delivers above average in my opinion. Unfortunately reduced to 40%, with a little more oomph it might have been more.

The nose is still fun here but with dilution on the palate it's just no fun anymore. Good beginnings are there. Nice coffee note. Some tobacco too. On the palate more towards cocoa. You can drink it but it's quickly forgotten.

Yes, we've arrived at the flagship rum. And I actually recognize a rum here. Lightly sweetened, typical Latin American style of rum. Nothing you have to have tried. Certainly nice in cola.

7,4:On the nose, molasses, barrel impact with young, roasted wood notes like biscuits, cocoa, roasted nuts, slightly smoky, spicy, fruity with coconut, yellow fruits, earthy with tobacco, vegetal with cereal, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, sugarcane, herbaceous, fresh with tea is obvious, sweet with honey, some citrus fruits and chocolate, vanilla. 6,2:On the palate, the attack is light, fruity with citrus, yellow fruits, later raisins, sweet with roasted wood notes like burnt sugar, butterscotch, roasted nuts, later cocoa and confectionery, cream toffee or just toffee, spicy, some cardboard notes arise on oxidation, the sugar cane is grassy, vegetal. 6:The finish is short, dry, thin, the cane is sweet with honey, the wood is roasted, spicy, caramelized, as the fruits are dried and yellow..

Hmm… somehow I can't really make much of this.. on the palate I get a slightly musty taste, like damp old cardboard. And that's not really aromatic. The rest is okay, but nothing more.

5y old rum from Chiriqui, Panama. Relatively dry and definitely unsweetened. Overall, however, it is unfortunately a little boring and insignificant. A few more years of maturation and a few % more would certainly help here, but to be honest I don't see the point in buying such a young rum for around 50-60€. There's too much other good stuff for less money.

Oops, the fruits are completely hidden here. A pity, instead a very strong barrel influence with everything that comes with it. In the mouth exactly the same. The empty glass emits great vanilla aromas!

Not really a fan tbh. While the nose is somewhat interesting/destinct, I don’t get much in the palate aside from toffee notes. Yet there is also a stron bitterness in the evolution.

Quite nice but simple rum. It's a rum you would expect from the Spanish tradition, lots of caramel and toffee, wood-influenced and cocoa. Quite mild and a bit bland, but by no means bad.

Perfume and lemon zest. The mouth feel brings out some interesting character. Oak and vanilla, some coconut. Pours clear golden. Wood stays with you for a bit as well as some vanilla. Light sweetness hangs around. Peppery vibe from the white isn't as present. Sweeter than the white. Had this in a flight at the Casco Viejo tasting room.
