Casa Barú Double Crop Geisha Coffee Pure Pot Still Rum
The gimmick is real: sugarcane fermented with Geisha coffee yeast, and coffee genuinely leads here — mocha, milk chocolate, caramelized burnt sugar. But at 40% and only 3-4 years old the palate reads thin, and even fans call the alcohol a bit rough for the proof. Green apple and a surprising chili note keep the nose interesting; several tasters just wanted more body.

Basically an exciting experiment to ferment the sugar cane molasses together with the yeast from the geisha coffee, the coffee aroma definitely sets the tone here. It certainly makes some delicious cocktails, but I don't really see the point of such a young rum with coffee yeast fermentation on the market. Especially not for over 40€.

I like this „coffee spiced“ version better than the 5y. Still not overly fond of this one either.

Ansonsten wäre hier sicher was gegangen.
