Romdeluxe Hampden Wild Series Rum No. 59 C<>H 2021
Pineapple, banana and overripe tropical fruit lead, with the classic Hampden glue-and-solvent funk underneath. At 75.2% and just over three years old, it's young and wild — several tasters note the ester explosion actually masks the heat, though a few say it bites hard at first and needs air. One member calls it "so much taste and funk." A raw, high-octane C<>H for people already deep into Jamaican ester.

Another classic Hampden Funky Ester bomb. You can tell how young this bottling is, even if it's not the full alcohol bomb you'd expect from the ABV, it's untamed and wild. I really like that about this rum.

#4948 02.11.2024 Had a great tasting with Kim from Romdeluxe with both old and new releases. Nose Fresh, intense, ester, light glue, fruity, overripe, pineapple, faint chocolate, faint smoke, funky, light mint. Palate Intense, fresh, ester, faint wood, light glue, fruits, overripe, banana, faint chocolate, funky. Finish Long and warm, medium intense, medium dry, fruity, overripe, light pineapple, faint caramel, light chocolate. The empty glass has a light sour note to it with faint vegetal and citrus notes. This is a great rum and thus it has also been sold out on the day of release.

I'm a fan of Mark HGML, both the old and the younger vintages with the high alcohol volume. This is one of the very impetuous ones. While it is still typical on the nose with esters, tropical fruit, slightly buttery and marzipan, it bites hard on the palate at the beginning and needs time to release the aromas. For this reason, only the smallest sips are possible. Then the typical HGML aromas appear. Very tasty, but the RX13155 remains the benchmark for high-proof HGMLs.

Great Hampden, even if you can of course notice the high alcohol content. Otherwise typical Hampden, lots of esters, but also overripe tropical fruits, banana and pineapple. Also a bit of glue and solvent detectable.

Tasting on 08.07.2026 RX 22376 Hampden C<>H Romdeluxe WSR No. 59. Gift from Mr. Kevin Sørensen. Nose: Classic Hampden C<>H. Yellow tropical fruits, chocolate, and lots of pineapple. Palate: WOW funky, a wild ester bomb. Pineapple, banana, overripe tropical fruit. Oily richness and butter, lime, and solvents. You completely forget the ABV in this fruit explosion. Romdeluxe knows what they’re doing, just my taste. Glass: Sweet overripe mango and yellow tropical fruit. Tasting “In the cave”

Despite its young age, there are plenty of spices on the nose. Plus the full range of ester power, but the high ABV cannot be denied either. Quite astringent on the palate, spicy, lots of esters and very intense. An exciting bottling.

... Hampden, the legendary Jamaican distillery that besides rum also produces alcohol for perfumes. In all rums from this distillery, you can smell wild esters, after which your whole body soaks up the scent of yellow tropical fruits - mango, papaya, pineapple, peach. One of the rums you "must try before you die".

Its ripe, fruity and creamy. Tasty, abv not really felt. Finish quite long but loses roundness quickly.

A fantastic rum - so much taste and funk..

Got a bit of water first, because that will definitely burn your throat and lead to reflux over time (known alcoholic ailment (besides liver cirrhosis)). I don’t find the pronounced butteriness of the Mark here, but rather biscuit notes, doughiness and a fruit rot I haven’t had before. I find it tasty. Would mix the bottle and considering that you basically double the drinks the bottle gives, the price would be great for such a young Hampden. (But who puts only half as much booze in their Mai Tais just because the ABV is twice as high?! ;)....)
