Ripe pear brandy is the first thing everyone reaches for — this Swiss unaged overproof smells and tastes so much like an Obstler that most tasters guessed agricole or fruit schnapps blind. Pear, fennel, anise, a mineral-salty edge and fresh sugarcane. At 80% the alcohol is impressively well tucked in, but it needs air and rest before it opens.

RumX Advent calendar day 10 Nose .... Floral, flowery. Citrus fruits, sugarcane. Lime zest. Palate ... Alcoholic, citrus fruits, floral, slightly salty. Lemon/lime peel slightly bitter but fits the rum.

What a bomb in the RumX calendar day 10. Nasty move to take a rum that actually doesn't exist 😉. At first I was a bit overwhelmed because I didn't really like this unaged one. But after some time breathing, it becomes much more accessible. For me still nothing neat, but definitely very interesting as a mixer. For the 80% it supposedly has, the alcohol is quite well integrated. I would have rated it much lower.

Day 10 of the RumX Advent calendar: A technically flawless, clean distillate, but you can tell fruit distillers were at work here. The fruity and fresh herbal top notes were very well captured and despite the very high alcohol strength, the rum is never sharp or spritzy. However, in my opinion, the cut was set a bit too early, which is why the spicy counterpoint is missing, resulting in a rather short and inconspicuous finish.

RumX Advent calendar day 10. A Swiss overproof with 80%. I agree with my predecessors, at first I also thought it was a fruit brandy. Slightly fruity but quite alcoholic on the nose. On the palate still intensely vegetal. Alcohol quite well integrated, yet very intense to feel.

RumX Advent calendar 2024, 10 ... I would never have guessed Switzerland. Nose: Salty, mineral, sugarcane, a bit of vanilla and almost artificially exaggerated pear notes as well as very slight mirabelle. Palate: Pear, sugarcane, vanilla, salty, mineral, fennel seed, licorice, sweet. My guess: Agricole ... because of the saltiness, minerality and the vegetal aspect from Marie Galante or Guadeloupe. ABV 70% upwards.

RumX Advent Calendar, day 10. A fresh and joyful nose with fruits, flowers, acetone and nougat. The palate is alcoholic and the aromas go on a roller coaster, rising and falling in a somewhat chaotic way. The finish is medium length but on bitter and medicinal notes.

RX Calendar 24: first impression on the nose: somehow reminds me of a fruit brandy, pear, yeast pastry, and quite a strong ABV power. On the palate fennel, anise, candied fruits. The finish warms well 😅 really an extreme and interesting piece!

#6351 Enjoying a few samples while watching the final days of the Eco-Challenge Fiji. I admire how tough these people are and they just keep racing for days on end with very little sleep. Thank you Henrik for the free samples 😊 This is a very intense rum that needs to rest for a good while, but on the other hand the price tag is pretty good. I do know this is a mixer rum, but it still does pretty well as a sipper once rested. A very potent profile with nice fruits and spices.

Crazy!🎅🏼🇨🇭😃 Blind, I would have guessed an overproof unaged Agricole from Guadeloupe or Martinique here. Intense Williams pear brandy note, very similar to fruit brandy. But no wonder, probably sugarcane was imported here, its juice freshly pressed and distilled on a Swiss fruit distillery setup. This schnapps-like aroma I also know from Revolte. Alcohol is relatively well integrated for 80%! Otherwise, you find pepper, licorice, anise, mirabelle and a slight saltiness and minerality.

On the nose I immediately think of fruit brandy, then floral notes slowly come through. On the mouth then spicy, edgy with slight sharpness. Not bad!

For 80%, the alcohol is very well integrated. Hardly any spirituous notes. Mostly in the finish. Many plant notes, salty, a bit medicinal. Slightly fruity. I expected worse. Decent bottling from Switzerland.

Blind tasting Advent calendar 2024: old caretaker, what a nose. Salty, pear-like and extreme. On the palate, a guest is a pear brandy. But with a good percentage. It almost dissolves my plastic cup.

Day 10 RumX Advent Calendar Very tasty representative of the white rums. I suspect an Agricole because some grassy notes can be found. On the nose nice pear with a slight olive note. On the palate then very much towards fruit brandy (pear, apple) with a lemony/lime touch. Consistently present an extremely great sugarcane note. Which I personally find sensational. Really the essence of sugarcane. This becomes more intense with additional standing time.

In taste, I immediately thought "a raw distillate". But unable to find the origin. And for good reason! I didn't know there was a distillery in Switzerland! The tasting unmistakably reminds one of a pear eau-de-vie. Despite the very oily texture, it remains too strong for me, and even 2 cl is a bit too much...

RumX Calendar 2024 Day 9: This time an unaged, completely clear. On the nose sweet, grassy, fresh. Little alcohol. First thought is the Swell Bielle blanc, but honestly it's also one of the very few unaged Agricoles I've tried so far. On the palate the alcohol comes in full force, strong, intense. The grassy freshness is still there, sweet sugarcane in the background, light fruit. At the back lots of sharpness, lots of alcohol. Definitely 60%+. Long finish. I remember the Bielle as much rounder, better integrated. I don't think this is it, but no idea what else.

Very exciting. Had it as a blind tasting in the Advent calendar. Of course, impossible to guess this bottling. But I was sure it was not a classic agricole. So far so good. With lots of time in the glass it becomes more accessible. Reminds strongly of pear brandy. Alcohol very well integrated.

RumX Advent 2024-10 Hmm, is that rum? Smells strongly like fruit brandy or grappa. Some vanilla comes through too. But not my thing at all. Even if there might be quality, it's just not for me. I'd say it's quite high proof. No idea what it is.

Olive soaked in mineral water is an interesting nose. Don’t inhale too deeply, because then too much sharpness comes through. Taste like a creamy fruit brandy. Not a rum for me.

On the nose sweet and fruity, you might think you have a fruit brandy in front of you. A lot of sugarcane also comes through. At first, I thought of St.James. Palate: here comes a smoky, bacon-like note similar to some Mezcals. Finish: again Williams pear! The alcohol feels like 65%, maybe 70%! Great unaged rum!
