Foursquare Wagemut Special Edition 2024 2007
Opinion splits hard here: some call it "Popcorn Kino," others shrug that it's barely rum. What everyone agrees on is the nose — buttery, caramelised popcorn, like a fairground stand, with a bit of hazelnut and nougat. The palate goes sugar-sweet with salted caramel and a saline edge. The 17-year Foursquare base? Nobody can find it under all that sweetness.

How does Foursquare Wagemut Special Edition 2024 2007 taste?
From community reviews · summarized with AI
Very sweet salted-popcorn spiced novelty Fun, novelty popcorn-and-salted-caramel spiced bottle that nails its gimmick. Most find it too sweet, and the aged Barbados rum vanishes completely — enjoyable, but not really a rum experience.

Absolute popcorn cinema this rum. For a spiced rum really very very good. Really good base rum that has a perfect popcorn smell and taste (of course very sweet). The slightly salty caramel in the finish rounds it off. Great experience surely also for rum experts.

On the nose the full load of sweet popcorn. I immediately feel like I'm at a popcorn stand where a giant cup of still slightly warm popcorn is pressed into my hand. Unfortunately, the image disappears quickly because if you sniff too deeply the alcohol kicks a bit in the nose. On the palate then the complete sobering up. Maritime notes, salty (which was to be expected according to the description), sickly sweet caramel popcorn. Where is the rum? Yeah, I notice it. Not as a 17-year-old Foursquare, but as alcoholic sharpness. At 44.7%. Well! In the aftertaste remains the sticky sweetness and the salty note. The idea is nice, but also nothing new. Cinecane and even Aldi Süd had something like this in their program before. Aldi probably with neutral alcohol, but the base doesn't matter with this product anyway, since you don't even taste the base material. Accordingly, the Special Edition 2024 from Quickborn is not assessable as rum for me.

#6740 03.05.2026 Enjoying a few more samples while watching Gold Rush on Max. This one is very disappointing in my opinion. It is a fruity rum but it is out of balance and a bit flat in my mind. Nutts and some fruits are nice though.

An ordinary spiced rum where the quality of the rum can't really be judged here either. Hidden behind aromas of corn, caramel and a slight salt note, the 18-year-old rum disappears completely. Very ordinary product at an inflated price. Respect for the clever sales strategy for such a product.

Did someone say popcorn? On the nose, I basically only get vanilla and buttery notes. No trace of Foursquare or spice or rum :-) On the palate, however, surprisingly, spiciness comes through. Personally too sweet for me, but the sweetness-spice ratio fits very well. It's not exactly popcorn, but it's in that direction...

Under normal circumstances, this rum would be rated differently. Also, "rounded" and "delicious" rarely come up in my ratings. But for this niche rum, let's say spiced, it's very very well made. The popcorn is super integrated. Not every day, not every week, but occasionally with guests who then make a happy face because the Caroni before was a flop, or the Jamaica is too strong.

Very funny idea to revive the old cine cane popcorn rum, only way more twisted and on steroids. Very successful product, although a bit too sweet for me, but hats off to Nico for this sales performance!

This rum is so perfectly woven with the popcorn! It has insane power and yet no alcohol sharpness. An absolute dream!

I find it hard to rate the "rum". It's definitely a funny idea, but of course has absolutely nothing to do with rum. You can't taste anything from the allegedly 17-year-old rum from Barbados. I find that very unfortunate. Otherwise very similar to the Popcorn Rum, just a bit more intense. Taste-wise a lot of salted caramel. Way too sweet for me. Maybe a hint of salted caramel would have been enough. Despite the low percentage, the alcohol is not well integrated. Overall a nice dessert!

On the nose a clear bullseye as to what it should be. Full-on popcorn. Maybe also something nutty. On the palate relatively sweet but pleasantly soft. However, it only has just over 40%. That takes away the power. The popcorn is still present but weaker. Barbados seems to shine through. Corrected downwards in the night tasting. I miss the depth. Little complexity.
Review by Barney487
Very nice to smell like salty caramelized popcorn, but in the mouth clearly deeper than the nose suggests and with its % also a certain pleasant sharpness that fits well. From the 3rd-4th sip you find some new notes that really make it taste good but naturally sweet.
Review by Tim
First, an old rum from Barbados mixed with caramel and corn distillate. Nose extremely roasted nuts, nougat, caramel, popcorn. Very sweet on the palate, roasted, popcorn, somewhat woody. An experiment, no longer a rum in the classic sense - unfortunately.
Review by Frank
Such an extreme, spiced "rum" won't be for me, but I'll try it anyway: Nose: Yeah, crazy! Actually buttery, caramelized popcorn. Plus a bitter hazelnut, like Hanuta. You don't get anything from a 17-year-old Foursquare. If you like that kind of thing, you'll really enjoy this. Unfortunately not for me, although it's not completely unpleasant. Therefore 6.0 Palate: Sugar sugar sweet. Clearly popcorn and a slightly salty note. The sugar covers everything, so I can't taste much more. Definitely very good for sweet rum drinkers, as it's not really bad, just totally not for me. 5.0

Tasted nicely in the sun today. Smell: Caramel, hopjes scent. Rum in the background. Taste: soft creamy caramel, a bit salty, and at the end the rum comes through again. Distinctive.

Not so great

Very intense smell and taste of popcorn. It's almost intrusive. Something completely different but certainly not for everyone.
